Waste Barrels?
Posted By CindyI received these photos from a resident. The photo on the “top” shows at least 15 barrels lined up on the vacant property between the 7-11 store and Dunkin Donuts on Rt. 10.
The photo on the “bottom”shows some sort of well with the cover left off. Now I went over to this area and noticed there is a fence around the perimeter of the property, but one can easily access it by foot because there is only a heavy chain stretched across the opening to the lot. One could easily walk onto the property.
The first three barrels in the foreground, do not have any label on them at all. The rest of the barrels, especially the last several, say something to the effect of “waste water” whatever that means.
I was told by my husband that this area was the former site of Huxley’s Garage and gasoline station.
The question is: WHAT IS IN THESE BARRELS? It says “non-hazardous” on them for the most part, but ARE THEY? Will these barrels stay there FOREVER? Will they ever be REMOVED?
I would imagine that real estate on Rt. 10 in Cheshire would be prime land. Why has it remained in this state for so long? Is it contaminated? I don’t know, but someone does. Hopefully I will get an answer but I am not holding my breath.
BTW: I added some new photos to the Featured Photos that are currently running on the right side of the Issues Page. The last three photos were taken in Meriden. One shows their new Linear Trail and the nice park off South Meriden Road.
Also, I am preparing for the “Photos by Gordon and Cindy Kleist” exhibit which will take place in the Mary Baldwin Room of the Cheshire Library the month of June. If you wish to purchase any of these photos, name a (reasonable) price, and the money will be donated to your favorite charity or organization.
The Police Log saga continues: Hopefully I will be meeting IN PRIVATE with the Police Chief to discuss concerns. P.S. I STILL see that Gas Guzzler Police SUV being driven around. And DON’T think I don’t see you when you try to park in the back of Greenwich Coffee!!
Here is an interesting article on Police BIKE PATROLS!!
