I thought I would focus a bit on news from other areas-I am starting with Bridgeport-my hometown-and I am hometown proud.

You sheltered wannabe’s here in titsy town think you have it bad-READ ON!! GET REAL!! THIS IS THE REAL WORLD AND THE REAL WORD!!

I hope you will all read the story about the Bridgeport Dropout Committee-yes, there are so many dropouts in Bridgeport-they actually have a Committee to try to prevent it!!

The state gave Bridgeport somewhere in the area of $4.2 million in an attempt to do something about it-now guess what?? There is no money left for little ol’ Cheshire to blow it on something REALLY STUPID like another consultant to study this pool.

TOO BAD-CUPBOARD EMPTY!!

Oh by the way, the dropout rate in Bridgeport-THIRTY PERCENT!!

SADDER THAN SAD!!

Well to shift gears-another item getting under my craw is this stupid idea to bring back the tolls in Connecticut.

Well, I am not paying these tolls and I am definintely not subscribing to this EZ PASS which from my own personal experience of dealing with this in Massachusetts- is NOT SO EZ!!

Good luck trying to get money back if you have been overcharged-they take the toll money out of your credit card in advance!!

To be honest, I would rather face a court fine than have to deal with the EZ Pass customer service-it is a disaster!!

And of course-like Cheshire-the state of Connecticut will spend MILLIONS on a consultant TO LOOK INTO THE ALL ELECTRIC METHOD OF TOLL COLLECTION, when the states that have tried this  have decided to scrap or delay it. WHAT GIVES??

Hey look, when you get arrested-you have to take it like a MAN!!

You know, I don’t get these videos-WHY IS THERE NEVER ANY SOUND!! Then we would get the real story.

I mean look-people, cops included, just don’t start hitting another person for no reason-unless something is wrong with them or they go to a certain high school.

Well, here is the video-you decide: P.S.-I do feel sort of sorry for the prisoner-and I love the way the cops always say “oh we were in fear of our lives” to justify the violence.

More on Age Restricted Housing

I have been able to find articles touting both the advantages and disadvantages of senior housing-but believe it or not-most of the articles state that age restricted housing is on the wane.

Of course, this is why the town of Cheshire is planning a fairly large age restricted housing development-and why they are planning for a Lifestyle Center-and constructed a four season pool with an antiquated air inflated dome idea if you will.

As I have stated before, others have tried and tossed it by the wayside-so that is JUST THE EXCUSE OUT OF TOUCH CHESHIRE NEEDS TO WASTE MONEY AND TRY TO REBUILD THE PROVERBIAL EDSEL!!

To back up my point-here is an interesting article from New Jersey-stating this very fact:

On a lighter note: many of you have commented on the Trump L’oeil car on the Boing Boing blog. That was a GREAT story.

I have received word that the Cheshire Police Department has trump l’oeil patrol cars-HMM!!

I wonder? DO THEY ALSO HAVE TRUMP L’OEIL POLICE OFFICERS!!

THEY MIGHT HAVE A TRUMP L’OEIL POLICE CHIEF!!

Also: are you SICK  of the Swine Flu??

Then you SHOULD HAVE attended the “Sicko” De Mayo party in Orange on Tuesday-no masks  were allowed!! I went for a few hours-it was fun until I got a call from one of my clients that he would not be at my meeting on Wednesday because of THE FLU!!!

FINALLY-I am running this ridiculous video from the Ct Republicans trying to blame our State Rep Elizabeth Esty for the economic woes and accusing her of double speak.

HELLO!! YOU REPUBLICANS WRECKED THIS COUNTRY-SOLD ALL OF OUR JOBS OVERSEAS-GOT US INTO THIS STUPID IRAQ WAR-ALLOWED OFF SHORE INVESTMENTS BY BANKS (which Pres. Obama is now trying to stop), AND YOU ARE ACCUSING THIS WOMAN OF DOUBLE SPEAKING??

NO!! YOU JUST WANT TO KEEP THINGS STATUS QUO FOR YOUR CEO PALS!!

HA!! THE GOP TRYING TO ACT LIKE THEY ARE SO CONSERVATIVE WITH SPENDING-YES THAT IS TRUE UNLESS YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE CEO, CORPORATION OR LLC AFTER YOUR NAME. THEN, SPEND ALL YOU WANT!!

Under The Weather

I haven’t been feeling good the past few days and NO IT IS NOT THE SWINE FLU!! I have low blood pressure-so I feel lightheaded-it is a struggle just to get up and go about the daily grind-so I will be making this post short.

My son also UPGRADED my dashboard on WordPress-which is also driving me crazy because everytime one upgrades to the next level on WordPress-you do get more “features” which I don’t know how to use anyway, but the problem is that the entire dashboard is different-and I have to relearn what took me forever to learn in the first place.

Very frustrating!!

It is almost like everytime you purchased a new car or truck-the steering wheel would be different-the brake and gas would be in a different place-and basically, you would have to re-learn everything!

It is NASTY!!

I have heard from a few of you about my “ads” I am now running on UTH. Well, this is a new venture for me-although several months ago I did run a few local ads-now I will try to run more.

Unfortunately, I thought it was a good idea to run these Google Ads-now I am wondering if I made the right decision.

Apparently, Google will put different ads on your website or blog, depending upon traffic and content-the way it works is that everytime you log on you see a different ad. It is revolving.

Well, I know a few of you are upset, as I am-with these “gun ads” they keep putting on my blog.

I don’t know why-I DON’T TALK about guns!! I HATE GUNS!! I hate everything about them-so despite what SOME PEOPLE THINK they know about me-THEY DON’T-I HATE GUNS and always have-I will try to see if Google will stop these Gun Lesson ads or whatever they are-otherwise, I will have to terminate with Google.

Now I did want to talk a little more about our economy and how BAD IT REALLY IS!! I mean there are jobs-but now instead of   500 to 1000 people applying alongside with you-now you have DOUBLE OR TRIPLE the people.

And, instead of having several want ads to choose from-you are lucky to see one or two that strike your fancy. I know many of you, including myself-are upset over the CEA Union Head claiming that Cheshire is not feeling the effects of the recession as badly as other towns or cities.

Cheshire is a little insulated from the economy and the world as a whole-but things still go on here-and we are hearing more and more-we are getting through the Berlin Wall in the middle of town so to speak, so more news is coming out-and some of it is not good.

Apparently, there has been another arrest at the high school-this time for assault. Apparently a 14 year old student turned himself into police for allegedly throwing another student to the ground and breaking his hip on April 8th.

I know this is news people do not want to hear ANYWHERE, but I must say, I am encouraged that we are even hearing of this news. I know a few years ago, and I have said this before, this would have been hushed up. So someone is learning-this is life-THINGS HAPPEN-we cannot control EVERYTHING-we report it-learn from it-and MOVE ON.

Now speaking of the police-I do want to thank “Robbie” who does make comments from time to time-the last being about Police Reports.

“Robbie” is right-the police DO NOT have to release the actual police report-but they DO have to release certain details of the arrest and acknowledge that an arrest has taken place-this avoids, as “Robbie” alluded to-secret arrests-this prevents the police from taking someone into custody and no one knowing about it.

The police at their discretion, may release the report, or a press release or a summary of the arrest. Details such as the name of the person arrested, the address, the age and what happened are public information.

The Cheshire Police Department isn’t doing anything WRONG not releasing police reports and releasing sketchy details-that is their discretion-but I do get a little upset with them because I do think they take advantage and carry it a little too far in keeping some info from the public-but we are making progress.

Now here is an interesting link to a Nevada Police Department that will not release any more police reports to the public about ongoing cases-they will just release certain information-which is their prerogative.

I did come across an interesting “map” of the United States on MSN showing just how good or bad our economy is–depending where you live in the U.S..

Run your mouse arrow over a state to see how it is doing in this economy-attention Mr. Leake-if you click on Connecticut-you will see every county is “IN RECESSION”

Apparently, there is a small town in Wyoming that has little or no unemployment-they actually cannot find enought people to fill jobs!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT-I mean it is a small small town-they recently tapped a big natural gas find-and the revenue is rolling in!!

I saw the town on TV it doesn’t seem that bad!!

I wonder if their teachers are getting a 4.4 percent raise over the next three years!!

Lastly, as most of you know, the Cheshire Community Pool, aka The Soviet Swim Center, will be closed for a few weeks while resurfacing of the pool takes place and the bubble is taken down.

Well, as most of you know who read this blog, the city of Manhattan,Kansas, where Kansas State University is located-is having to replace their community pool which is OVER 70 years old!!

Items for Discussion

This past Saturday, I went out and took some photos of dogwood trees around Cheshire-the photos are on the last post-called “Dogwoods.”

I love the dogwood tree-I especially like the dark black bark that contrasts with the pink or white flowers-it is such a stunning site.

If you get a chance-try to make it to Fairfield’s 74th Annual Dogwood Festival this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It REALLY is spectacular-but the weather HAS to co-operate and by my last check a few hours ago-it was supposed to rain ALL THIS WEEK THROUGH SATURDAY-UGH!!!

Now onto another issue-that I know from my former friend who constantly reads Tim White Listens-the next topic is the Pavement Management System, (formerly known as Cindy Kleist).

That is CORRECT-I USED TO CALL THE PUBLIC WORKS ALL THE TIME and tell them about potholes or cracks in the road-DAMN!! AND I DID IT FOR FREE!!

Well, to keep up my tradition-I actually WENT out to a few “problem areas” around town-of course I can’t get to all of them-and took a few photos.

In all honesty, I know that Pavement Management team went around Cheshire are reported that most of the roads are in good shape-all well and good-but I wonder-WHERE DID THEY GO??

Obviously, not to these roads!!

I went to WRECK (formerly known as ) Peck Lane-Devonwood Drive which is crumbling at the lower end, especially near Moss Farm Road-in fact, a few years ago I GOT A LARGE PATCH of that road repaved!!

So to continue-Wreck Lane, Devonwood Drive and Meadowbrook Road, off of Wallingford Road-THIS STREET IS ALSO A MESS!!

OK-so the FIRST TWO PHOTOS ARE MEADOWBROOK ROAD OR DRIVE-I can’t remember-this is the dead end street off Wallingford Road.

The third photo is Wreck Lane-and the last is Devonwood Drive.

Also on Wreck Lane up from Ollies Garage-there is what looks to be some sort of “pile of stone or asphalt” right in the intersection-umm excuse me-did our $1 million a year for the next 17 year paving management system SEE ANY OF THIS??
Did you ever have a relative or a friend that calls you up and “offers” furniture to you because they just don’t like it anymore or it doesn’t “fit in” with their decor??
Yes, I am sure you have friends or relatives like that-they try to dump off stuff on you–that is what Cheshire is-a dump off ground for programs other towns have tried and decided they don’t want

Case in point

We need to implement the CHIP SEAL METHOD OF PAVING IMMEDIATELY!! STOP WASTING MONEY WITH BITUMINOUS CONCRETE-AKA ASPHALT!!

IT  HEAVES AND CRUMBLES!!!

In fact, 50 or so years ago, most of our surface streets and highways WERE CHIP SEALED!! Why do we always SCRAP a good idea!! It is like now people are rediscovering vinyl music records-YES THEY SOUND A HELL OF A LOT BETTER THAN CD’S!!

Why-because it is one press off of the master tape recording that is why!!

But no, see, it was CHEAPER to switch to CD’S!! More information or music on a smaller object-that is why!!

OK Cheshire-don’t reinvent the wheel-GO OUT TO OLD SAYBROOK-THEY HAVE THE CHIPSEAL. I HAVE SAID THIS TIME AND AGAIN-but no, we will spend more cash on consultants and then wonder why the head of the Cheshire Teachers Union won’t compromise on teacher salary raises!!

This town SENDS MIXED MESSAGES ABOUT MONEY THAT IS WHY!!

Stop bragging “Oh we are getting millions from CRRA” or “Oh our grand list went up”
