Now I know Cheshire Town Council member Tim White has said that Cheshire will be eliminating three take home vehicles-and you know I have backed him up on this issue.

Depending upon how you look at it-take home cars can be a good or a bad thing or even both-there is a high potential for abuse-and if no one is watching the store-who knows where these cars may be driven.

For the record-I think the Police and Fire Chiefs should have take home cars-THEY ARE ON CALL 24/7 and leave personalities out of it.

Everyone else AS MY HUSBAND DOES WHO IS A FIELD AUDITOR CAN DRIVE THEIR OWN VEHICLE!!

So I came across some articles that talk about both sides of the issues-the good side of take home cars and the bad.

In fact, one town that I have featured-allows any officer to take home a patrol car-but the caveat is–they must respond to any emergency whether they are on duty or not!!

I would hate to see that overtime bill!!

I know it is an election year in Cheshire-and SOME PARTY is really giving it to another party-but you know what? YOU CONDONED ALL OF THESE ACTIONS: THE POOL THE TAKE HOME CARS THE GAS USAGE WHEN YOUR GRAND OLD PARTY WAS IN POWER-WHAT TOOK ALL THESE YEARS TO QUESTION??

Every month-the Town Council should make the Town Manager read the municipal gas usage for each month!! They should ask for mileage on all of the take home vehicles so a comparison can be made!!!

BUT DO THEY??

By now, most of you know about the “rented temporary trailers” that the town of Cheshire has put up at the Soviet Swim Center so patrons may change and shower before using the pool.

The cost of these three trailers TO RENT was approximately $24,000.

HELLO!! DOES ANYONE RUNNING CHESHIRE EVER DO ANY RESEARCH??

Obviously NOT!!

If the town government had BOTHERED to use the internet or call FEMA-which still has approximately 60,000 of these Hurricane Katrina trailers sitting around in Missisippi and other Gulf Coast states that WERE NEVER EVEN USED-they would have run into the following:

FEMA spent $2.7 billion to buy 145,000 mobile homes and trailers after Katrina and Rita hit the Gulf Coast in August and September 2005, paying a bulk-rate price of about $19,000 per trailer, on average. FEMA now has 60,000 trailers in storage nationwide; several thousand of them — exactly how many is not clear — were never used.

To dispose of the used trailers, FEMA is operating an auction through a government Web site. Wednesday evening, the agency had 47 trailers on sale from its Hope depot. Bids ranged from $5,191 for a 2006 Coachmen Spirit of America trailer with possible water damage and a missing stove grate, battery and other items, to $12,600 for a 2006 Sunnybrook RV Sunset Creek trailer with “no obvious exterior damage.”

As I have stated time and time again, the reason this town gets away with spending the money that has been spent especially on this pool is because this is a transient town and outside of a few people-most of whom have political ambitions-NO ONE CARES!!!

We need make the Soviet Swim Center ONE SEASON IMMEDIATELY and make an agreement with Elim Park which has a NICE INDOOR POOL for off season use of the pool.

Secondly, you know, the 1970’s ARE OVER!! GET RID OF THIS TOWN MANAGER FORM OF GOVERNMENT!! We have a person running this town THAT IS NOT ACCOUNTABLE TO THE POPULACE!! THIS PERSON IS NOT ELECTED!!

DO YOU SEE THE PROBLEMS NOW AND IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO IS THE TOWN MANAGER-IT COULD BE MY SPOUSE FOR ALL I CARE-THE SYSTEM THAT IS NOW IN PLACE IS ANTIQUATED AND IS RIPE FOR ABUSE!!

At least if the person who is in charge of this town knew their ass would be on the line every two or four years, there would be a hell of a lot of different behavior and a different attitude!!

OH IT IS!! THIS PERSON ANSWERS TO NINE PEOPLE-AND THE POPULATION OF CHESHIRE IS NEARLY 30,000!!

WRONG!!!

And speaking of spending money-of course I am not able to take a photo of it-but the Herald has photos of the new Historical District signs near the corner of Maple Avenue and running through Cornwall Avenue.

In all honesty, If I were Cheshire-I would be EMBARRASED to put up these signs!!

CLEAN UP THE AREA FIRST!! FOR GOD’S SAKE, THE SIGN NEAR THE CHESHIRE COFFEE NEAR THAT BLUE UGLY ASS BUILDING LOOKS DISGUSTING!! CUT THE GRASS FOR GOD’S SAKE AND TEAR DOWN THAT BUILDING!!

On the other hand-I guess it is historical because that building looks like nothing has been done to it since the 1700’s!!

Another disgrace is where that new pharmacy is going in across from St. Bridgets School.

The photo of this building in its original condition which I could not get when I was doing my Cheshire Then and Now project  can be seen at the Dunkin Donuts in the Everybody’s Plaza-WHAT A NICE BUILDING!! TOO BAD THE TOWN DID NOT TAKE ENOUGH CARE TO PRESERVE THIS STRUCTURE!!

I am going to go to some other towns-like Orange-and take photos of THEIR HISTORICAL DISTRICT-SO YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE

I know many of you will be celebrating this Fourth of July with Fireworks-I do-I love fireworks-I love the loud noise and the colors-BUT UNFORTUNATELY-ANAL CONNECTICUT WON’T LET YOU BLOW OFF THE GOOD ONES-I DON’T BREAK THE FIREWORKS LAWS HERE-BUT MANY DO.

I usually go to New Hampshire where most fireworks ARE LEGAL-so is the case in Kansas.

I am sorry for the blog being down- I had some issues with my webhoster-hopefully everything is OK now.

I had gone to the joint Town Council/Ordinance Committee meeting in the Cheshire Town Hall with the intentions of trying to tape some of the meeting.

Well I did tape quite a bit-nearly a half hour-but then I got upset and left the meeting when the Council and the Ordinance Committee passed this fee schedule for Mixville-as most of you already know about it-$10 for a daily pass for out of towners-$5 for Cheshire residents; I believe $40 for a resident season pass and $120 for an out of towner resident pass.

Then I could not download the tape-and that was the icing on the cake for a perfect evening.

WELL, that is the END OF THIS PARK!!! When they had the fees before-not that many people used it-and the GEESE PROBLEM STARTED!!

When the fees were eliminated-AND THE SOVIET SWIM CENTER OPENED-MIXVILLE WAS TREATED LIKE A CHEAP TART-AND FORGOTTEN ABOUT-THE RESIDENTS OF THIS TOWN FOR THE MOST PART STOPPED GOING-SO OUT OF TOWNERS STARTED TO ENJOY THE PARK AND FOR THE MOST PART IT WAS KEPT CLEAN.

No one can help it if the trash was overflowing from the trash bins-SOMEONE WASN’T DOING THEIR JOB!! Don’t blame the so called “out of towners”

And as my spouse said at the meeting-HOW DO YOU KNOW THESE PEOPLE WERE FROM OUT OF TOWN?? BECAUSE THEY SPOKE WITH AN ACCENT  OR WORE DIFFERENT CLOTHES OR SWORE!!

I SWEAR!! DOES THAT MEAN I AM FROM OUT OF TOWN?? I LISTEN TO LOUD MUSIC-MY CAR AUDIO SYSTEM IS TOP OF THE LINE AND IT CRANKS!! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??

I really don’t think people from OUT OF TOWN especially those that lived 15 or 20 miles away were coming to Mixville at night and tagging and vandalizing!! I REALLY DON’T!!

The video from Youtube that I ran showing kids sliding down the Mixville hill were more than likely from CHESHIRE because my son recognized some of them.

So we basically re-instated these fees-to keep people out that SOME OF US don’t feel comfortable around because they might speak with an accent or have darker skin!!

And then this PHONY town says they have programs to teach diversity-YEAH GIVE ME A BREAK!! WHAT TYPE OF DIVERSITY-PEOPLE THAT FIT YOUR IMAGE??

There is an old saying-if you did not grow up around a diverse population-YOU CAN NEVER ACCEPT AND FEEL COMFORTABLE AND IT IS TRUE, especially for many in this town-NOT ALL-but many!!!

But what is really sad-is now Cheshire residents who pay property tax (I just got like four envelopes in the mail today for the car property tax bill) will now have to pay to USE THE POOL and MIXVILLE!!

WHY??

Most towns-remember, these are the towns that put their pools in a SCHOOL!! do not charge for use of their parks or pools-Bridgeport does not charge residents to use Seaside Park or Beardsley Park-YOUR PROPERTY TAX PAYS FOR IT-YOU GET A STICKER WHEN YOU PAY YOUR PROPERTY TAX AND YOU AFFIX IT TO THE WINDOW OF YOUR CAR ALLOWING YOU ENTRANCE INTO THE PARKS!!

Everyone else PAYS!! EVEN PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN BRIDGEPORT BUT DON’T PAY ANY PROPERTY TAX-NO STICKER-YOU PAY!!

THAT IS FAIR!!

That is what Cheshire should have done-but-no-they would rather cut off their nose to spite themselves!!

At least fix the park up if you are going to charge people to use it-rake the sand on the beach-get rid of the weeds, get rid of the soggy fields and then maybe the fees MIGHT BE JUSTIFIED!!

But what makes it even worse is that now “for security reasons” a person cannot purchase a daily or season pass-as they can at the pool-right at the location-THEY HAVE TO TRAVEL ALL THE WAY DOWN ROUTE 10 to the PARK AND REC OFFICE-AND THEY ARE ONLY OPEN DURING THE WEEK.

HOW (in) CONVENIENT!!

I know if I go there again-I am NOT PAYING!! AND I AM BRINGING MY PROPERTY TAX BILLS AS PROOF OF MORE THAN PAYING AN SEASONAL ENTRANCE FEE TO THIS PARK.

As far as my friends from B-Port-they told me they will come, but I will have to get the passes-AND I AM GETTING RESIDENT PASSES FOR THEM-SO THERE!!

HMM-SEE THE LOOPHOLE??

Now in other news-As most of you know by now-Farrah Fawcett passed away on Thursday-I believe she was 61. She fought a courageous battle with cancer-in fact I did see a few shows that documented her struggle and it was very touching-SO SO SAD.

I remember when I first moved to Cheshire-I had heard a rumor that Farah Fawcett ALMOST bought a home in Mountaincrest!! So there was Cheshires’ ALMOST claim to fame!!

And what is even worse and so shocking-is the sudden death of my FAVORITE MUSICAL ARTIST OF ALL TIMES-MICHAEL JACKSON.

I loved Michael Jackson-I featured MANY of his music videos on my blog under “Featured Videos”

I saw him several times in concert-I LOVED HIS MUSIC-I did not care about his personal life-nor did I believe the accusations-HE WAS THE SPOKESMAN FOR MY GENERATION. IT IS VERY HARD TO TAKE-PEOPLE MY AGE GREW UP WITH HIM FROM HIS BEGINNINGS WITH THE JACKSON 5-ALL THE WAY TO THE PRESENT DAY.

I remember in the early 80’s when the Thriller album came out-that was all you saw in any department store you went to-THE THRILLER ALBUM EVERYWHERE-THE ENTIRE RECORD DEPARTMENT WAS JUST COVERED WITH THIS ALBUM!!

I will NEVER forget that.

Michael broke down barriers-he was the FIRST Black artist to be featured on MTV!!

If you ever saw this man in concert-you left a changed person-IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE!! He was made for the stage and was only truly happy when he was performing.

I think all of this stress over the past several years-the accusations-his lifestyle-DID HIM IN-I DON’T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS-THE MUSIC WORLD WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!!

I am very very sad tonight-because of his passing-and because of how sudden it was-we must remember that our lives can be taken at any moment!! Go out and live because you never know-you cannot take for granted that you will wake up tomorrow-you may not!!

Michael left a legacy that will NEVER be equaled-NOT WITH THE CRAP MUSIC I HEAR TODAY-I AM SORRY!!
