Pushing Limits

I always liked to test limits and boundaries-I still do to an extent-so I do like to challenge authority every once in a while. Sometimes when you do this-you get burned-but even I know when enough is enough.

Well, apparently, some of my supporters do not. This Bank of America non issue that the authority in this town chose to MAKE AN ISSUE is still creating steam.

Up for discussion: is picketing or protesting in place in front of a business or municipal building or even a private residence-loitering?

Was this supposed “suspicious activity with a motor vehicle” at the Bank of America on May 21st, which amounted to driving up to the drive thru-remaining silent for less than two minutes, then driving off-worthy of a police report?

Was this a violation of the Bill of Rights “freedom of expression?

I mean look, people protest by driving in motorcades slowly on the street-or by slowing down or honking their horns in front of the place they wish to protest-if no one was inconvenienced-is that a CRIME or FREEDOM TO PEACEABLY ASSEMBLE??

Well on Friday, a few of the people involved in this non event-will be contacting the Connecticut Civil Liberties Union to find out.

I am going to link you to a few good articles that discuss these two issues:

The first article is from the Legal Information Institute:

The First Amendment: An Overview

The second article is entitled:

Supreme Court Strikes Down Loitering Law

I am NOT getting involved in this anymore-BUT-I know my friend Val and a few of her friends ARE NOT GOING TO DROP THIS-NOT ANYTIME SOON.

I know she is upset that the police came to my home-she thinks it was intimidation-she told me it seemed as if the police were trying to “discourage” any more activity.

Well, of course, in Cheshire they are-but things are getting a little bit better-at least they CONTACTED ME and asked me for my side of the story. This would not have happened several years ago-even with that election nonsense-the police officer tried to contact me but I did not choose to speak-WHICH IS MY RIGHT UNDER THE FIFTH AMENDMENT AND DOES NOT INDICATE GUILT!!

They are so worried in this town that someone might act human and not like an automaton-it is pathetic!! WAKE UP!! GROW UP!!

I will let you know what happens with the CCLU on Friday, (that is if she can get through on the phone), but I know she will keep trying.

I don’t let people walk on me if I can help it-but I feel I am on good terms with the town and the Police Department, the Town Manager and the Police Chief know I do not hesitate to call them to discuss something I feel was inappropriate and they do discuss with me-and I respect them for that- so I will let it go.

But, as I stated in another post, I cannot control other peoples actions-hopefully, they will make wise choices.
