Growing Up

I know many of you think I hate Cheshire-I don’t. I try to offer honest opinions. Compared to a lot of towns in this state and around this country-Cheshire is OK-but it IS BORING and needs to let its hair down a bit.

Also-this towns infrastructure needs an Extreme Makeover NOW!! This town has a lot of potential but the town government has got to get it in gear.

West Main Street is a disaster and needs to be fixed up SOON!! Hopefully, that money from the state will be used to spiff it up. This should be top priority after deciding once and for all-what to do with our community pool.

The people who run this town know what to do-make it ONE SEASON-and either strike up an agreement with Elim Park or put the pool in the High School WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BUILT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

This town needs to decide what it wants to be WHEN IT GROWS UP!! They need to start planning ahead-they need to decide what their infrastructure should look like-now it looks like a bunch of playing cards that have been scattered in the wind-a mish mash here and there.

I know we can do better.

So, a few posts ago, I told you that I was going to take a video of Cheshire’s Historical District and Orange’s Historical District.

Well on Thursday, I had some free time so I decided to go to Durham instead. I like Durham, it is quaint and pretty. I travel through the town quite a bit on my way to the shoreline-so I decided to film their Historic District instead.

So here are the two comparing videos-the first is Cheshire’s Historic District and the second is Durham’s-YOU DECIDE.

Double Edged Sword

OMG-THIS IS SO SO TRUE

SOMEBODY PEGGED THIS TOWN

A while back I ran into an old friend and we spoke about our days as writers and reporters.

I told this person I had a blog and that I had been publishing it for nearly five years and it was fairly successful.

This person who knows me quite well started laughing-she wondered if people really took me seriously. I told her it depended upon whether someone really knew me or not-because as you know-a lot of this blog is tongue in cheek some of it is real-some of it B.S.

Anyway after she left I wondered if I could have done this blog in another town-probably not-I think really now after living in this town for nearly 25 years, my purpose here was to publish this blog-I do enjoy it-many times I got fed up with it-but that is normal for me-but over the years I have amassed a large amount of loyal readers and I am happy for that.

Now I want to break away from Cheshire news and speak about Michael Jackson-I KNOW you are really sick of it by now-but I am not-I REALLY LOVED MICHAEL JACKSON’S MUSIC-I respected him as an artist-and it is really hard to relate to people who never saw him in concert-because THAT WAS THE REAL MICHAEL JACKSON-A TRUE ARTIST-MADE TO PERFORM.

That is where he was the most comfortable-that was where I believe he could be himself-it just seemed he was so different up on stage-he knew what he wanted-he was confident.

It seemed when he was off stage he fumbled around and tried his best to fit into this world-but it was not to be.

Most talked about throughout the years, was Michael Jackson’s so called plastic surgery-which he denied having-and his “transformation” from a black man to nearly white which was really strange to me.

But the biggest topic was Michael Jackson’s NOSE-the guy had so many nose jobs that the tip died-can you believe it.

People say Michael Jackson looked like a freak but you know what-I sort of thought that also until I found this Australian website that actually has an artists rendition of what Jackson would have looked like at 50 years old if he had not had the plastic surgery or nose job or so called skin lightening.

After you look at the comparison-ask yourself-do you actually think Michael Jackson would have been able to have the successful career he did IF HE LOOKED LIKE THE ARTIST RENDITION?

I’m telling you-I think Michael would have been relegated to lounge singing in Las Vegas-Michael was a lot smarter than we gave him credit for.

And here is a good site on Michael Jackson’s infamous NOSE JOBS GONE AWRY!!

IN OTHER NEWS:

I guess the Federal court dealt another blow to Connecticut-which now CANNOT force Interior Designers to have a license-I AGREE WITH THIS!! WHY SHOULD THEY??

I have a child who is very interested in Interior Design and is studying it. This should be good news for him. The state of Connecticut HAS GOT TO STOP TAXING AND LICENSING PEOPLE TO DEATH AND START RECRUITING BUSINESSES TO THIS STATE AND START GETTING ITS PEOPLE SERIOUS EMPLOYMENT.

This way, these people can pay TAXES to the state instead of the state trying to close the budget gap by taxing and licensing us to death!! The unemployment rate in this state IS WELL OVER 10 percent-UMM GET ON THE STICK HARTFORD!!

You can only squeeze so much water out of a sponge-and this one is ON ITS LAST LEG!!

I believe you should be able to do what you want to earn a living as long as it is legal of course-without having to shell out money to the state for some phony license.

All of these things were dreamt up by state coffers to control people-driver licenses, and especially marriage licenses were not even in existence until after the Civil War (and you can guess why).

Finally a victory for the common person!!!

Did you ever wonder what it is like to be behind the wheel when you get old?

Take this “Senior Driving Simulator” test

Actually, most seniors I know drive  VERY WELL!! So this game is sort of an insult I think.

Also: I ran into a local resident who started talking about the old Cheshire IGA NORTH AND SOUTH-remember that? The NORTH IGA is now the Cheshire Liquor Store (I don’t know what they call it-because I don’t drink)/CVS and the Cheshire IGA SOUTH was where Everybody’s is now.

I loved the IGA-sometimes I go to Walsh’s in Wolcott  and the one in Southington whose name escapes me at the moment.

Believe it or not IGA is very popular in French Canada-here is a look at one of their flyers (EN FRANCAIS)
