A Loss for Words

June 28th, 2007 by Cindy

Ok, it’s really late and I just got home from work. I had a crown put on one of my teeth today—really exciting!! And now Cox High Speed Internet just crashed so I guess I will have to wait until Thursday.

Ok it is Thursday– Back to the issues: I haven’t read any of the local newspapers to find out their take on the “Town Clerk” issue. But from what I have heard from acquaintances, most of it was a boring whitewash. I guess the Cheshire Town Council determined it was some sort of clerical error. I told you that!!! Many people were demanding apologies be given to the parties “accused.” Rightfully so.

Can you spell the word BACKFIRE!!

At least Matt Hall, Town Council Chairman did step to the plate and apologize to the parties involved. And, from several people who attended the Council “inquisition” Republican Town Council member Dave Orsini cancelled his subscription to the Soviet News Agency Tass, (aka, the Cheshire Herald). Rumor has it that I have been mentioned to take over as the new editor. Hmm!.

Speaking of fakes, are we all sick and tired of the constant problems with products coming out of China. First we had the melamine in the pet food and antifreeze in the toothpaste: gee, now you can brush your teeth and keep yourself warm at the same time! Then we had fake Disneyland. Yes, in the Boing Boing blog of May 2, 2007 there is a story on China’s “Disneyworld” Oh my God it is soooo fake. Its
pathetic. Now, they have gone even further with, yes you guessed it, fake tires! What’s next fake people. Oh I forgot we already have plenty of that here!

Click here to read the recall on the fake tires.

Many of you are complaining about people talking on cell phones. I have a earpiece that hurts my ear when I leave it in for a period of time. I guess that is the biggest complaint. But at least talk on the speakerphone! Some people have sent me a video of cars “speeding” on what l00ks like Academy Road. But unfortunately, the speed limit over there past the Church near Judson Road is 45 mph. I can’t tell how fast the cars are actually going so I don’t think I can post it. However, I will be posting the stop sign video–people not stopping at ALL at a four-way intersection after we complete our upgrades. For those of you who use Internet Explorer 6, you see there is a problem. The Featured Video Box is underneath the About This Website post. It is supposed to be beside it to the right. Because of a “flaw” in Internet Explorer 6, it reads the video box as too large and literally, scoots it over to the next line which is underneath the “About This Website” post where it is not supposed to be. Bottom line–use Mozilla Firefox or download Internet Explorer 7 for optimum results.

Some of you have noticed my “ad” for the Undergroundtownhall in the Meriden Record. It is running Thursday and Friday of this week. It is just a small classified ad. However, my attempts to place the same ad in the Waterbury Republican-American is meeting with resistance to say the least. I keep getting “we need to look into it, and we will call you.” This is going on day three. I don’t know what the problem is. They are probably jealous that the Undergroundtownhall gets more hits than their paper, but that is understandable. Someone is supposed to get back to me today before 4 p.m. to let me know whether I can place the ad. I will let you know.

I spoke briefly to Tim Slocum the other day. It was a private conversation, but he seemed upbeat. I am glad. As I have said before, he is a nice man and honest. This is behind us now and we all should be making sure other items on the Cheshire Town Website are kept up to date like the Police Monthly reports, which are updated by the Town Manager’s office. I called the other day, and was told they were updated. They are not as of today. Hello! we are still stuck on April reports and it is June. We should be seeing May and soon June for God’s sake. I know, let’s launch an “investigation.”

Ok-I have to go back to the dentist. See you soon. And remember, download Internet Explorer 7.
