I have been out of commission for several days working on projects. This will be the norm for a while. But I did want to bring to your attention some interesting information from WED (The Wallingford Electric Division).
As some of you know, the town of Wallingford has their own electric company. I am learning more and more about WED and will forward more information to you when I can.
Now we have heard from some of our Town Council Representatives about saving energy. Well, here is one way-OUR OWN ELECTRIC COMPANY!!
Wallingford has it-they even install and maintain their own lines. The savings are quite significant. I know my household gets massive bills, over $200 a month. It used to be OVER $400 when six people were living here!!
I have a chart that shows residential rate comparsion chart showing residential rates in September 2009 between Wallingford Electric Division, CL&P and United Illuminating (UI).
The memo states: “Shown is a comparison of billing for a Wallingford residential customer under the Electric Division’s Residential Rate No. 1 verses comparable rates as charged by surrounding private utiltities.”

DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE?? AND I DON’T KNOW WHY, CL&P and UI BUY THEIR ELECTRICITY FROM THE SAME SOURCE. YOU KNOW WHY-THOSE BIG CEO SALARIES!! AND YOU AND I PAY FOR IT.
I really think Cheshire should look into this-it is worthwhile. However, I am wondering and will have to ask, what happens if and when there is a big power outage, like most of Wallingford being out because of an ice storm or high winds. Do they call CL&P for help??
Worth checking into.
Also, I have noticed on Channel 14 the various Public Service Announcements being done by various town departments. I was very happy to see our Police Department reaching out to the public. I have been calling for this for many years. Our Police Department has a lot to offer, so they need to continue to reach out to the community. Remember, we should not be just meeting our officers at a traffic stop or in the back of the patrol car.
Speaking of patrol cars-let’s watch “Highway Patrol-Roadblock” Hey this police chief is pretty good-but the other cops act doofy.
