The Von Bondies-C’mon C’mon

I have been tossing and turning over this decision I have made about running AGAIN as a write-in for the Town Council-I wondered-is it worth it? I have to start now-which I have-If I cover one mile a day-which doesn’t seem like much, but if you are walking it is-that will take me into November to go to everyone’s home in Cheshire.

I don’t have any extra money to spend on this campaign-I don’t accept money FROM ANYONE to do this -I make my own signs-and as happened last time-some of my supporters made signs for me-they weren’t fancy-and when it rained they shriveled up-but to me-that is what American campaigning is all about-GRASS ROOTS.

Despite what some people think-I DON’T HAVE AN AGENDA-OH YOU KNOW WHAT-THAT IS WRONG-I DO HAVE AN AGENDA-the people that live in this town-WHAT IS BEST FOR ALL-not a developer, a coach, a real estate agency-WHAT IS THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION TO BENEFIT ALL RESIDENTS OF THIS TOWN.

I don’t make any promises to anyone-and frankly-I never will, but I will be honest-I don’t have anything personal against anyone-it is just part of life-but when I saw some of the names put up for candidacy on BOTH THE DEMS AND REPUBLICANS-I really started to wonder WHAT WAS  GOING ON.

I know this type of politics goes on in every town-the most influential, the strong-the people with the money seem to get ahead and get their way.

I don’t have any influence with anyone-I will not be representing any interests BUT YOU!! I take direction from the people. I will come to your door and ask your concerns-IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU LIKE ME OR NOT-IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE I WILL LISTEN-I WILL FOLLOW  UP.

You know I do-you have seem me do this on my blog. I have been dealing with the public since I was a young girl, so I know how to listen and how to get things done. I don’t care if it is popular-I will ask questions when I believe something is wrong-I want our leadership in this town TO ACCOUNT FOR THEIR ACTIONS and I will make sure they do-and that means EVERY DEPARTMENT!!!

We don’t question some departments, while others go unchecked-and then we end up with a morale problem and A LEADERSHIP PROBLEM.

The problem I see with some of the slate of candidates-I fear the Town Council meetings will turn into petty bickering between the parties and MASSIVE CONFLICTS OF INTERESTS-AKA PAYBACK TIME FOR ALL THE PROMISES MADE!!

That is why this town needs an independent point of view, a view not tied to a PARTY LINE!!

So you figure-four Dems and four Republicans and an INDEPENDENT–TIE BREAKER VOTE!!

THAT WILL END THE NONSENSE RIGHT THEN AND THERE!!

This town needs to prioritize and spend money on necessary things like the education infrastructure-books, supplies, updated classrooms-not athletic fields NOT AT THIS TIME!!

You have to remember, we are still being propped up by extended unemployment benefits and the stimulus program-THIS WILL ALL END IN 2010-and the REAL PICTURE WILL COME INTO PLAY!!

Even if the town gets grant money-that is NO EXCUSE TO SPEND THAT MONEY UNLESS SOMETHING IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!!

So, we will see what happens-remember-Region 9 School District which comprises of Easton and Redding are right up there with their CAPT and SAT scores-THEY ARE NOT TIED WITH HAMDEN in 33rd place–WHY ARE THEIR SCORES SO HIGH?? BECAUSE THEY FOCUS ALL OF THEIR MONIES ON EDUCATION!! NOT COMMUNITY POOLS AND ASTRO TURF.

And speaking of astro turf-a town that I used to live in-THAT CAN LEAST AFFORD TO BE SPENDING MONIES ON THIS ITEM-(Naugatuck) is also embroiled in this issue.

Apparently, the town is considering spending OVER THREE MILLION DOLLARS to astro turf a few fields!!

WHAT?? I WONDER WHERE THEY GOT THAT IDEA??

This really kills me because a friend of mine’s daughter recently went on a job interview in Naugatuck (WHICH IS A REAL NICE COMMUNITY I LOVED LIVING THERE) but got told she could only be paid minimum wage because she was told “Naugatuck was a poor community”

DAMAGE FROM FRIDAY’S STORM IN CHESHIRE

THE LAST PHOTO IS SORT OF DARK I HAD TO TAKE IT FROM AFAR-BUT YOU CAN SEE THE SIZE OF THE TREE THAT SNAPPED AND FELL INTO THIS RESIDENTS POOL.

I know Shelton had a “tornado” I wonder if this area of Cheshire, off of Wallingford Road had a “cloud rotation” because my son was staying at this location and he told me all of a sudden on Friday afternoon-the wind whipped up and gusted  and then died down.

Could have been-this is quite a large tree and my son said there was no lightening just heavy winds.

While we are on the subject of rain and storms-um hello-WHY WERE THESE SPRINKLERS RUNNING  AT BARTLEM PARK DURING THIS PAST  FRIDAYS MONSOON??

DITCH THE TIMER AND PUT IT ON MANUALLY-WHAT A WASTE OF WATER AND RESOURCES TOWN OF CHESHIRE!!
