In Canada, the province of Quebec has “Bloc Quebecois” which is a separatist group that the Canadian Government out of Ottawa (which is the capital of Canada), sort of caters to-so they don’t start trouble and separate from Canada. They even have representation in the Canadian Parliament.
So how does this tie into Cheshire?? Well, Cheshire now has “Bloc Republicois) (Re-Pub-Li-KWAH) in Cheshire. So I want to see what THE BLOC will do in a year or so when these so-called “pool repairs” become “unrepaired.”
I went over to the pool on Saturday morning because there was a free swim all this weekend to “celebrate” the inordinate amount of money we CONTINUALLY SPEND ON CHESHIRE’S HIGH MAINTENANCE BIATCH!!
Well, of course I was disappointed. There were hardly any people there taking advantage. Then it got even worse when I looked at the bubble-the inside and outside is ATROCIOUSLY FILTHY!! There are no other words for it-FILTHY!!
FYI: A resident just called me and asked why the inside of the Madison Pool and Racquet bubble looks “dirty.” As I explained a few months ago, and will explain again, when I took these photos in September, THEY WERE JUST PUTTING UP THE BUBBLE AND HAD NOT POWER WASHED THE INSIDE NOR INSTALLED ALL OF THE LIGHTING. LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE OF THE OUTSIDE OF THEIR POOL BUBBLE WHICH IS POWER WASHED EVERY YEAR AND OURS!!
I went into the locker rooms–WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY?? ANSWER: DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT!!
WHY WHY WHY IS THERE SHEET ROCK IN THE LOCKER ROOMS?? I don’t care if it is backer board-(water proof sheetrock) WE HAD SOME PROBLEM A FEW YEARS AGO-IT GOT MOLDLY AND MILDEWY AND SO WHAT DID THE TOWN DO??? A REPEAT OF THE SAME ACTION THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE!!
I took photos of the inside and outside of this pool so you can DECIDE for yourselves if I am right or wrong. I’ll tell you one thing-this town SPARED NO EXPENSE WITH THE NEW ROOF!! EXPENSIVE. LOOK AT HOW CLOSE TOGETHER THE ROOFING SHINGLES ARE AND HOW THICK THEY LOOK. AS I SAID ABOVE-NOTHING IS TOO GOOD FOR OUR BIATCH!!!
The problem-THIS NEW ROOF WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM!! The rain water will continue to sheath down from the bubble-WHICH UNLIKE MADISON POOL AND RACQUET-is too close to the roof, new or old. In the winter-this will result in ice dams which will HEAVE THE SHINGLES-THUS CAUSING LEAKING!!
If you look closely at some of my photos, you see what appears to be a blue vinyl tarp that was put under the roofing shingles, probably to try to stop the ice dam problem or water seepage problem. Problem—PROBLEM NOT SOLVED. Water is very powerful and so is ice. Eventually, the tarp will get holes in it or get a rip and then what happens. There was a much better lest COSTLIER SOLUTION. Look at the photos AGAIN on the sidebar of this blog with Madison Swim and Racquet. THIS IS HOW TO PERMANENTLY SOLVE THIS WATER ISSUE!! SHINGLES WEAR OUT AND SO DO VINYL TARPS!!
I showed you how to solve it-DO WHAT MADISON SWIM AND RACQUET DID. THEY HAD A SMALL TUNNEL THAT CONNECTED THE MAIN BUILDING TO THE SWIM AREA. This way. the rain or snow did not sheath onto the roof and cause water damage-BUT NO!! THE INSANITY CONTINUES.
I wish I could find that old Susan Powter video, remember her, she was this weight loss or excercise guru and her slogan was STOP THE INSANITY?? So appropriate.
This town CONTINUES TO IGNORE COMMON SENSE. CONTINUES TO THUMB THEIR NOSE AT ANY ATTEMPT BY ANY PERSON OR PERSONS, MYSELF INCLUDED, TO MAKE SUGGESTIONS THAT WOULD ALLEVIATE THESE PROBLEMS.
But then again, why should they?
There is a bottomless pit of money (so they must think). IT IS CALLED YOUR TAX DOLLARS!! Let us see what Bloc Republicois does about this!!!
On a lighter note: I did manage to visit the Civil War Bivouac that also took place this Saturday in Bartlem Park. I did not see too many people taking advantage of this. Of course not!! There was nothing FREE TO EAT so of course the herd mentality that comes out of nowhere every time there is free food to be found (yours truly included) stayed away!!
Anyway, it was very nice-very authentic (outside of the Dunkin Donuts cup I saw on the ground). They had authentic rifles-I fired one-it was cool!!
I sometimes wish I were a man-because if I had been-I definitely would have been a soldier-that is not for women-it is a man’s thing-I will always believe that. Men make 99.9 percent of the problems in this world, LET THEM FIGHT IT OUT!!
So here are some photos from this event:
Finally, updating you on Wallingfords plan on changing four parcels of land which adjoin Cheshire from Conservation and Preservation areas to Neighborhood Conservation areas. Approximately 61 of these acres cross into Cheshire.
The Office of Policy and Management (OPM) on October 29th, denied Wallingfords’ request. However, Wallingford officials will be traveling to the Legislative Office Building in Hartford to make their case yet again with state officials. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 9.
Here is the discussion that took place at the November 2, 2009 Wallingford Public Utility Commission meeting:
Mr. Adair spoke briefly about the OPM recommending denying Wallingford’s request for a an interim change to the map for the four areas of the map we requested. The only area they supported was that in which we delineated previously unidentified areas of open space. Mr.Adair said the decision was disappointing and would be going to Hartford November 9th to present a case. He noted the OPM erroneously believed the properties affected were adjoining with Cheshire Crossing and that is not the case. The primary reason for denial seemed to be a broader view of the state plan and location of the guide map and the unwillingness to recommend a change in areas designated as Conservation and Preservation to anything other.
Mr. Nunn asked if the OPM basically agreed with Wallingford’s or Cheshire’s viewpoint. Mr. Adair said the OPM mentioned their concern that they shouldn’t be changing the map.
