To start off, I went to jury duty in New Haven Superior Court on Thursday. NOTHING HAPPENED!!

Everyone was told to leave at 11 a.m. Hayes and Komisarjevsky were on the docket but I don’t know what happened. I did see Channel 30 news outside the courthouse.

That probably was because they knew the STAR was there (me). But, guess what?? They missed me so tough luck.

UPDATE: JURY SELECTION WILL BEGIN NEXT TUESDAY FOR THE PETIT HOME INVASION.

PHEW!! I AM GLAD I AM NOT INVOLVED BUT I WAS READY JUST IN CASE.

According to WTNH, emotions ran high in the courtroom Thursday, Jan 14th. Meanwhile, I was on the ninth floor falling asleep. I guess the defense wanted to show prospective jurors photos of the crime scene. The judge would not allow it.  Dr. Petit was visibly upset AND I DON’T BLAME HIM.

Well now that I am not going to be involved in the jury selection, I must say I really feel sorry for Dr. Petit and his family-HOW AWFUL!!

I wish I had gone into that Voir Dire room-I would have knocked both of those creeps teeth out!!

Here is a link to an old Record-Journal article  from April 13, 2008 on the Petit situation. Some interesting rhetoric here.

Also here is a video from WFSB with Dr. Petit speaking about Thursday’s preceedings.

A friend just texted me asking if I thought the people on my jury duty on Thursday would have been shown the photos if that motion would have been thrown out. I DON’T KNOW!!

WHAT WERE WE THERE FOR?? WHEN ASKED, THE JURY ADMINISTRATION TOLD US WE WOULD BE PART OF THE PETIT JURY SELECTION. I CAN’T FIGURE OUT THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SITUATION. I DON’T KNOW. BUT I FEEL SORRY FOR DR. PETIT HAVING TO GO BACK AND FORTH AND BACK AND FORTH. WHAT CAN I SAY. OVER 100 PEOPLE WERE THERE ON THURSDAY PREPARED TO DO OUR DUTY.

MAYBE JUST AS WELL.

Anyway to get back to the Haiti earthquake-when I worked at the Jewish Home in Fairfield, I knew several people in housekeeping and a security guard, Louissant Pierre, who were all from Haiti. I don’t know if they have any family in Haiti I will try to find out through a friend who still works there.

I always felt I had some sort of bond with “Pierre” because believe it or not-he actually bought and lived in my childhood home on Poplar Street in Bridgeport when he moved here from Haiti several years ago. Imagine that!!!

To get back to the earthquake devastation there–It seems a great way to raise monies for this cause is by entering “9099″ to your mobile phone and texting “Haiti” and entering “yes.”

This will generate a $10 charge which will be donated to charity. GREAT IDEA!!

Also, I am providing a link to the American Red Cross to donate: PLEASE HELP!!

My girlfriend went on Tim’s blog and he is mentioning how to help the people in Haiti.  Even though Tim said he studied French in college and has forgotten it, he did a good job. Let’s fix it up.

Mon français est très mauvais. J’ai étudié le français au collège, mais je l’ai oublié au fil des ans.

FYI: Unless you have been formally educated in Haiti, most people there speak Creole.
