I just wanted to update you on this Hipaa issue. I did contact the Town Government last Thursday but I have not heard back from them. I wonder if I ever will. I am not really surprised what can I tell you.

And I did contact the State Dept of Public Health but they told me that because this issue occurred in the town by a town department, (not a health care provider, a hospital or an ambulance company), I have to lodge a complaint WITH THE TOWN OR WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT!!

When I mentioned I lived in Cheshire, the lady didn’t say anything for a few seconds. Maybe she knows. Whom am I or even you if this happened to you for that matter, WHOM WOULD YOU GO TO?? THE PEOPLE THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE?? THE TOWN GOVERNMENT??

Yeah, OK!! That is like inviting the KKK to an NAACP convention!! NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!

We don’t have an internal affairs department at the Police Department, we don’t have a Police Commission, going to the Town Council would probably not accomplish anything-so really in the long run–WHY BOTHER??

It is REALLY SAD. These people get away with things all the time and you know what-as I stated above-even if this happened to you even to the haters I would still say something on this blog and be concerned. Remember, it is the ISSUE not the PERSON OR PERSONS.

I believe my right to privacy, was violated.  But you know, it seems that when we lose one-we gain one. I just saw the report on WFSB Channel 3 about Cheshire possibly putting cameras in Bartlem Park because of the vandalism to the skatebboard park, the park bathrooms and the Yellow House.

OK, I did not have the skateboard park vandalism, BUT I DID ALERT YOU-WITH PHOTOS TO THE YELLOW HOUSE VANDALISM. So you saw it here first and I am GLAD THAT THE MEDIA PICKED UP ON IT. NOT FOR A BAD REASON NOT TO MAKE CHESHIRE LOOK BAD BUT BECAUSE YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!!

I am sending the letter I wrote to the ACLU that was posted for members only. I am hoping to hear from them soon one way or the other. If they don’t think I have a case with this and the OTHER ISSUE I alluded to on the last post, then I guess that is the end of it I guess.

I am really upset over this. It is really sad and disgusting because I KNOW I am not alone in my feelings. This has happened to others. You are just shut out and ignored. But it will backfire. It is starting to more and more. They try to control information, but as I mentioned above, some does manage to leak through.

Speaking of controlling information, the Library Board of Cheshire has a tough decision. All the news media will be covering it. I am all for free speech and have fought censorship for many many years. This town is the MASTER of it, so it will be interesting to see what happens to this book “In the Middle of the Night.”

Now I think the book is a cheap shot. I really do. It is awful. This poor man (Dr. Petit) I really feel sorry for him.  BUT, there is an issue of peoples RIGHT TO KNOW.

I share just about everything  (well NOT THAT) but I am very open and honest in my feelings. Whether you like me or not, I try to present all the issues, popular or unpopular.

Unfortunately, I do not believe in censorship. I believe the book should be made available to the public. You know, MOST PEOPLE, are not stupid. They know a publicity stunt and a cheap money making scam when they see it. Those people are just out there-they take advantage of tragedy.

I really believe that when MOST people are called to do their civic duty and make a decision that affects a persons life, MOST PEOPLE DO THE RIGHT THING!!

They don’t let a cheap shot ( I almost said shit) book make up their minds for them. They really don’t. And as far as the Petit family goes, I do feel very very sorry for them. I can’t even imagine and I grew up in neighborhoods where break ins and people getting shot and killed happened MUCH TOO OFTEN.

When I was a reporter, it was hard to try to balance the fact thatwhen I reported a criminal activity, the victims and their families SUFFERED. But, it was my job and I knew what I had to do.

Hey look, I have had to see my name in the papers in unfavorable light a few times, and there was nothing I could do about it. I know the Petit situation is FAR WORSE and I CANNOT PRETEND EVER TO EVEN KNOW HOW DR. PETIT FEELS, but the people have a right to know.

The best thing to do-is NOT TO READ THE BOOK. DON’T CHECK IT OUT OF THE LIBRARY. DON’T BUY IT. Just imagine how the families of Sept. 11th feel when they have to look at those videos on Youtube and other places on the Internet that insinuate that 911 was a government conspiracy and it was the United States’ fault and we planned it.

HOW DEGRADING AND REVOLTING. BUT HERE AGAIN, NO MATTER HOW OUTRAGEOUS SOME OF THESE VIDEOS ARE, EVEN THE LEGITIMATE ONES THAT SHOW THE PLANES HITTING THE TOWERS OVER AND OVER AGAIN-THE PEOPLE JUMPING FROM THE BUILDINGS-THE FLIGHT 93 CRASHING AGAIN AND AGAIN–THE PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW. YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO MAKE THAT DECISION-AND THAT SHOULD REMAIN YOUR CHOICE–NOT SOMEONE ELSES!!

Some people are saying they resent the GOVERNMENT TELLING THEM THEY  MUST HAVE A  HEALTHCARE  PLAN FORCED UPON THEM. THEY FEEL THE GOVERNMENT IS FORCING THEIR WILL UPON THEM.

Then pray tell me, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IF THIS PETIT HOME INVASION BOOK IS BANNED IN CHESHIRE??
