Is Fake Grass Better Than Real Grass?

November 17th, 2009 by Cindy

WTNH HAS THE IN CAR CAMERA VIDEO OF THE MILFORD POLICE CRUISER CRASH THAT KILLED TWO PEOPLE. APPARENTLY THE VIDEO WAS IN ANOTHER POLICE CAR THAT WAS ON THE ROAD THE SAME TIME AS THE CRUISER THAT CRASHED. YOU DECIDE WHO IS WRONG WHEN YOU WATCH IT.

WTNH is also reporting that the two teens killed had been drinking a total of a 12 pack of beer between the two. Both were 19 years old. Another person , Jaycen Munro, who supplied the two teens with the alcohol has also been arrested.

Read the arrest warrent for Jaycen Munro

The blinking light on Officer Anderson’s side of the road was YELLOW which is caution. However, the blinking light on the two teens side of the road was RED (STOP). WTNH is reporting that Officer Anderson was traveling 94 miles per hour.

SAD SAD SAD FOR ALL PERSONS INVOLVED.

Here is another perspective from WVIT. According to their article, the patrol car with the video camera was traveling AT 70 MPH on the BOSTON POST ROAD at 2:15 a.m. The Police Cruiser operated by Officer Jason Anderson was traveling at 94 MPH-yes, 94 MPH. They were RETURNING from a mutual aid call. They were NOT ON A CALL AT THE TIME. The cruiser involved in the crash had NO LIGHTS ON THE LIGHT BAR OR NO SIRENS ON AT THE TIME.

THE SPEED INDICATOR ON THE VIDEO IS IN THE UPPER MIDDLE RIGHT OF THE VIDEO SCREEN. IT SAYS “S”"THEN THE SPEED NUMBER THEN “M” I ASSUME FOR MPH.

IT SEEMS THE OFFICER WITH THE IN CAR CAMERA AT FIRST IS GOING FAIRLY SLOWLY. THEN WHEN HE SEES THE OTHER OFFICER HE STARTS SPEEDING UP RIGHT BEFORE THE CRASH.

ALSO, THE FLASHING LIGHTS YOU SEE WERE YELLOW. NOW WE ALL SHOULD KNOW THAT FLASHING YELLOW TRAFFIC LIGHTS MEAN SLOW DOWN USE CAUTION (YOU ARE COMING UP TO AN INTERSECTION). I SEE THE CAR THAT WAS TURNING SLOW DOWN BUT DO YOU SEE THE TWO CRUISERS DOING THAT?

APPARENTLY THEY WERE RACING EACH OTHER!!

DON’T THINK I DON’T KNOW ABOUT RACING THAT HAS TAKEN PLACEĀ  IN A CERTAIN TOWN ON RT. 68 EARLY IN THE MORNING TO “TEST OUT THE NEW CRUISERS.”

JUST LIKE POLICE RADIO ISSUE-SOME PEOPLE HAVE BIG MOUTHS AND CAN’T WAIT TO TELL!!

THEN AUTHORITY WANTS TO KNOW WHY THERE IS SO MUCH DISRESPECT AGAINST THEM. LOOK HOW SOME OF THEM ACT!! I KNOW ITS NOT EVERY POLICE OFFICER BUT COME ON-THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. AND WHAT MAKES IT WORSE IS THEY ARE NOW TRYING TO BLAME THE DEAD VICTIMS!! I DON’T THINK SO. IF THE OFFICER WAS DRIVING ANYWHERE NEAR THE SPEED LIMIT LIKE THE COPS ARE ALWAYS TELLING YOU AND I, THIS ACCIDENT WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE PEOPLE TURNED IN FRONT OF YOU?? MAYBE THEY MISJUDGED DISTANCE. EVEN THE POLICE OFFICER WITH THE CAMERA THAT WAS GOING 70 WAS ABLE TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT.

NOW SOME ARE COMMENTING ON THE WVIT ARTICLE THAT THE REPORTER WAS WRONG ABOUT PASSING ON THE RIGHT. PASSING ON THE RIGHT IN CONNECTICUT IS ILLEGAL. IT IS AN INFRACTION, PUNISHABLE BY THREE POINTS BEING PUT ONTO YOUR LICENSE!! THAT IS WHY WHEN A MOTORIST IS TURNING LEFT ON A ONE LANE ROAD, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO STAY BEHIND AND WAIT. BUT EVERYONE PASSES ON THE RIGHT WHICH IS TECHNICALLY ILLEGAL. YOU CANNOT PASS IN CONNECTICUT ON THE RIGHT EVEN WHEN THERE ARE TWO LANES!!

I am running a few links with different points of view. Now I don’t care one way or the other whether the HIGH SCHOOL, you know it IS HIGH SCHOOL NOT THE NFL, has fake or real grass. I see both points of view with maintenance and fertilizers and watering. IT MAKES SENSE-BUT NOT NOW!!

THE ECONOMY SUCKS!! DON’T LISTEN TO THE GOOFERNMENT (NO THAT IS NOT A TYPO). THAT REPUBLICANĀ  CONGRESSMAN OR SENATOR WAS RIGHT-THEY LIE!!

GO LOOK AT CAREERBUILDER, CTJOBS OR CRAIGSLIST, MONSTER, ETC. SEE WHAT YOU FIND. THERE IS NOT A LOT OUT THERE. AND THE LABOR DEPARTMENT IS A BIG HELP. THEY HAVE WORK FOR TWO DAYS NEXT THANKSGIVING WEEKEND!!

HOORAY!! PROBLEMS SOLVED!!

I know the town has the $525,000 grant money. We should use the money-to help the homeless veterans in our state. My spouse said that right down the street from where he works in Hamden, a person is living out of their truck.

I know—there are a lot of poor people and homeless people. Sure that is true. But why not bypass this artificial turf and put this money to good use helping less fortunate than ourselves.

Someone sits up nights jealous that Wallingford, Hamden and Meriden have artificial turf and prissy Cheshire doesn’t.

WELL WHOSE FAULT IS THAT??

This town CONSTANTLY MISSES THE BOAT-WE COME UP WITH THE IDEA YEARS AFTER OTHER TOWNS DO IT. THIS TURF WOULD HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN AN ISSUE SEVERAL YEARS AGO-BUT NO!! CHESHIRE ALWAYS PUTS THINGS OFF-NOW MY FRIENDS IT IS TOO LATE.

Remember, most of us who have lived in this town for a while have already heard the line–”oh we will raise the money”

We heard it with the fireworks for the Fall Festival-AND EVERY YEAR THE TOWN HAS TO FUND THE REMAINING BALANCE. WE HEARD IT WITH THE BASEBALL FIELDS ON RT. 10 -HAVEN’T HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THE FUNDRAISING SUCCESS OF THAT–AND LASTLY–THE BEST FOR LAST–OUR COMMUNITY POOL!!

“OH, THIS POOL WILL BE TOTALLY SUPPORTED BY USER FEES!!

FAMOUS LAST WORDS!!!

OH WELL, I GUESS THE TOWN COUNCIL WILL HAVE ANOTHER HIGH MAINTENANCE BIATCH TO FUND!!

In the interest of accuracy, the WVIT reporter is wrong about passing and you are as well. This is the pertinent section of the Connecticut General Statutes:

Sec. 14-233. Passing on right. The driver of a vehicle may overtake and pass upon the right of another vehicle only when conditions permit such movement in safety and under the following conditions: (1) When the vehicle overtaken is making or has signified the intention to make a left turn; (2) when lines of vehicles traveling in the same direction in adjoining traffic lanes have come to a stop or have reduced their speed; (3) upon a one-way street free from obstructions and of sufficient width for two or more lines of moving vehicles; (4) upon a limited access highway or parkway free from obstructions with three or more lanes provided for traffic in one direction. Such movement shall not be made by driving off the pavement or main-traveled portion of the highway except where lane designations, signs, signals or markings provide for such movement. Violation of any provision of this section shall be an infraction.

This may be found at the State of Connecticut web site: http://www.cga.ct.gov/2009/pub/chap248.htm#Sec14-233.htm

This is interesting because years ago my spouse got a ticket from your fave police department for “passing on the right.”
The driver was turning “left” my spouse went to pass on the “right” and got a ticket for “passing on the right”
    Now I am really confused.
