Lights of Hope
I went out on Sunday, Jan. 6th and took some photos (only a few) of the Lights of Hope event in Cheshire. Unfortunately, my digital camera is not very good and will not take night photos, so I was confined to photos during the day.
I did get some of the volunteers who spent a lot of their time putting out these luminaries. It was a tremendous effort on their part and IÂ know everyone is grateful.
Now I am very private with matters of this sort and as you know I don’t follow the pack. I prefer to express how I feel with words, music and photos which I have been doing for the past several months on this issue.
There is a song that comes to mind when we all think about Sunday’s event. It was written by Eric Clapton after he lost his five year old son Conner who fell several stories out of a window of Eric’s apartment. His music was his way of remembering.
One thing that everyone must remember, we must look into our souls and ask ourselves why people do what they do. We must pray to God every day Cheshire, especially the people who run this town. We must be humble before God.
I hope as the Luminaries shine into the night that all remember we are one and the same. One is not better than the other. We don’t do things to show off or outdo people. We do things from our heart. I know this is what God wants to see.
Even if you did not put out a Luminary, you can remember this tragic event in your own way. That is totally acceptable. This is my way:
TEARS IN HEAVEN
By Eric ClaptonÂ
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong
And carry on,
‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven.
Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?
I’ll find my way
Through night and day,
‘Cause I know I just can’t stay
Here in heaven.
Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.
Beyond the door,
There’s peace I’m sure,
And I know there’ll be no more
Tears in heaven.
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong
And carry on,
‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven.
