JANUARY 13, 2012-I DID ATTEND THE “TOWN OF CHESHIRE CT HISTORIAN” INTERVIEW. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE TOWN HALL. THIS WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC BECAUSE THE RECORDING SECRETARY FOR THE TOWN COUNCIL WAS IN ATTENDANCE. I THOUGHT THAT WAS GOOD.
VERY FEW THINGS THAT TRANSPIRE IN A MUNICIPALITY SHOULD BE HIDDEN FROM THE PUBLIC I BELIEVE.
WHEN I ENTERED AROUND 8:20 p.m., I SAW THE TOWN MANAGER AND THE PERSONNEL DIRECTOR IN THE HALLWAY. THE TOWN MANAGER LOOKED WORRIED LIKE HE ALWAYS DOES. HE NEEDS TO CALM DOWN AND RELAX. IT IS WHAT IT IS. WHAT GOES ON IN TOWN IS A REFLECTION OF LIFE AND DOESN’T NECESSARILY REFLECT ON HIS ABILITIES. MICHAEL MILONE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BETTER TOWN MANAGERS I HAVE KNOWN AND I HAVE KNOWN QUITE A FEW. THE TOWN MANAGERS IN BERLIN AND WINDSOR ARE GOOD ALSO.
SO I WENT INTO THE INTERVIEW. THREE TOWN COUNCIL MEMBERS-TOM RUOCCO, SYLVIA NICHOLS AND PETER TALBOT WERE SITTING AT THE TABLE. THEY MADE ME FEEL WELCOME AND COMFORTABLE. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD SIX QUESTIONS (I ANSWERED ALL SIX AT ONCE I THINK). I WAS PREPARED-I DID GO OVER POSSIBLE QUESTIONS A FEW DAYS BEFORE.
I FOUND THE INTERVIEW TO BE QUITE GOOD. IT LASTED ABOUT 15 MINUTES. WELL, THAT IS ALL I WILL SAY. I WANT EVERYONE WHO APPLIED TO HAVE AN EQUAL CHANCE. OF COURSE, I HOPE I GET THE POSITION-WE WILL SEE. BUT, YOU CAN’T KILL A GIRL FOR TRYING AND AT LEAST I TAKE THE BALL AND RUN WITH IT-THEY CAN’T FAULT ME FOR THAT. I PUT MY MONEY WHERE MY MOUTH IS.
I WILL GET TO THE OTHER MUNICIPAL GAS USAGE. I HAVE A WACKY SCHEDULE. I GET UP AT 4 a.m. EVERY MORNING AND START MY DAY ASSISTING AN ELDERLY LADY IN CHESHIRE CT. SHE IS SO SWEET AND KIND. I ENJOY DOING THIS TYPE OF WORK. I HAVE ALWAYS DONE THIS-WORKING WITH ELDERLY AND DISABLED. NO MATTER HOW MANY JOBS I HAVE HAD AND HOW GOOD THEY PAID, I ALWAYS FOUND TIME TO DO THIS. THE PAYS SUCKS BUT IT IS REWARDING. MY DAY DOESN’T END UNTIL 10 or 11 p.m. SO I AM ALWAYS TIRED. BUT THAT IS HOW IT IS-I AM SURE YOU ARE TIRED ALSO FROM YOUR WORK.
MORE LATER.
Also, I did attend the Cheshire CT Public Safety Commission meeting on Wednesday January 11 in Town Hall. They were very welcoming which has not been the case in the past. I think I make them nervous but whatever-I do what I do. There were some interesting topics discussed-especially the Police Monthly Reports which I do not see updated on the Police website anymore. I wanted to hear the questions the commission asked. They did ask a few so that was good. I did find out there were 52 burglaries in Cheshire CT last year and that drunk driving arrests were down something like 18 percent.
Also, that new police/fire department computer communication system that was approved by the Town Council last year is scheduled to go on line in March 2012.
There was a small discussion about this situation in Prospect with Senor Pancho’s Restaurant-especially at night. If you have ever traveled at night on RT. 68 from Prospect CT into Cheshire CT you may have noticed some of the lighting they have in their parking lot blinds you as you approach the restaurant. I noticed it a few years ago, but because I have not been driving RT 68 again until a few weeks ago, I had forgotten about it.
Apparently, the Cheshire CT PD is going to try to get in touch with Prospect to see if they can improve this situation which is really annoying.
The CPD spokesperson did discuss this task force arrest of several people for breaking into cars at the Lock Park, and different parking lots throughout Cheshire and other places. Apparently, the break-ins occurred on Saturdays at 9 a.m. That is weird because I though the press release the CPD put out said the break-ins were occurring weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Whatever.
I enjoyed going to the meetings and will attend again.
I WILL POST THE REST OF THE MUNICIPAL GAS USAGE ON FRIDAY.
OH AUNTIE CHESHIRE-I AM NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE!
As I stated previously, I did receive the Municipal Gas Usage for the Cheshire CT Police and Cheshire CT Dept of Public Works-how many gallons were used at their pumps and price paid. I received several documents, so I will begin with the Cheshire Police Dept (CT), their usage and the other departments that used gasoline from their gas pump.
ALRIGHT-THIS IS ALL I HAVE ROOM FOR RIGHT NOW. I WILL RUN THE REST OF THE DOCUMENTS IN ANOTHER POST ON THURSDAY. CLICK TO ENLARGE THE DOCUMENTS. THERE IS A GAP BETWEEN DOCUMENTS-I CAN’T HELP IT-SO SCROLL DOWN.
I did want to include part of the e-mail sent to me by Jim Jaskot Finance Director regarding this gas usage.
Cynthia,
I have attached the Town of Cheshire’s December 2011 gas invoices and accompanying departmental allocation sheets, one for the Public Works pumps and one for the Police pumps. The Fire Department has pumps for super unleaded, but is for their use only and there are no allocation sheets for them. The allocation sheets for Public Works and Police show the invoiced expenditures being allocated to the various departments based on their usage (in gallons) for the month.
Cynthia,
You asked about Chesprocott. They use Town of Cheshire gasoline since their office is located here in Town. We bill them for their usage so there is no cost to the Town.
I have requested the breakdown of December gasoline usage for employees using Town vehicles for commuting. I will forward this as soon as I can. The Town has 7 individuals that commute with Town vehicles and get taxed for this benefit as part of their compensation. I am also checking with the Police and Fire chief who do not get taxed as there are special rules for public safety vehicles on 24 hour call, as long as the vehicles are clearly marked.
James Jaskot
Finance Director
