Municipal Gas Usage

UPDATE ON HURRICANE EARL

ATTN TOWN OF CHESHIRE CT–The Local Resident is SUING and will be releasing the information to the ENTIRE PRESS CORP SOON!!!

This is the municipal gas usage from June and July 2010 for the Cheshire CT Police Dept. I decided not to scan the documents, it was way too confusing to try to read, besides the June and July 2009 printouts were from the God-awful (I am glad they got rid of it) dot matrix printer which came out too light anyway. I asked if “Super Unleaded” was being used because that is what was shown on the Dot Matrix printouts. I was told the cars used “Regular Unleaded”

Now for June and July 2010 the cost of gasoline to the town was APPROXIMATELY $2.37 per gallon NOT THE 0.514 cents per gallon listed on the printouts. I was told the department could not figure out how to change the price, so the total cost per gallon was based on the 0.514 cents per gallon NOT THE $2.37 cents. You can do the math.

The request was for each vehicle. I will try to summarize. Now mind you, sometimes, each individual vehicle would gas up MORE than once a day. Most times, NOT ALL, the vehicle was filled up twice a day. A few times just once and on a few occasions, THREE times a day.

Again, I will summarize. For June 2010 the sheet lists 25 cars. There were 27,333 miles driven for the month of June which has 30 calendar days. The TOTAL amount of gallons expended FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT was 2,621.0. If you times that amount by $2.37 cents or even $2.30 cents, you can come up with the total cost. Now there are other departments that used the Police Department gas pumps for June 2010. They were (what looks like ) “ACO” which used 44.8 gallons; the Senior Bus which used 71.0 gallons and Chesprocott which used 122.1 gallons for a total amount of gallons used in JUNE 2010 of 2,858.9.

Now in July, 2010, which of course has an extra day, there were 25 cars on the sheet. I was not given the total miles, but the total amount of gallons used FOR THE POLICE DEPT was 2,758.000 at an approximate pump cost of $2.37 per gallon.

Unfortunately, I was given the wrong information regarding my court date. which I never saw posted on the Judicial website.

The letter my spouse read me was for another family member who received an infraction ticket in Hamden. God, they are getting worse than Cheshire. And FYI Mr. Officer-a yellow light means CLEAR THE INTERSECTION not STOP!! If you are halfway through when the light changes to yellow or another car is too close to brake safely you are allowed to CLEAR THE INTERSECTION.  The family member got the date changed to October 18 I can’t remember exactly. It was originally Sept 14 but there was a conflict.

My status since June 3, 2010 is still “TO BE SCHEDULED” and hopefully it was STAY THAT WAY. I had a nice talk with the Centralized Infractions Bureau regarding this ticket. I told them the Assistant DMV Commissioner had CLEARED MY RECORD-”NO VIOLATIONS FOUND” “NOTHING PENDING” That license withdrawal for medical reasons WAS ALSO REMOVED. NO POINTS., NO NOTHING-ZIP!! THANK YOU!!

FROM GOOGLE ANSWERS & CT DMV: “WHAT DOES A YELLOW TRAFFIC SIGNAL MEAN”?

A yellow light means “clear the intersection.” So, use your best judgment on how to do that.

HELLO!! MR. POLICEMAN-GO BACK TO DRIVING CLASS!!!

Sadly, my stepdad fell a few days ago while going to the mailbox and hit his head. He started bleeding inside his brain and this has caused him to literally be in a semi-conscious state. He recognizes no one and can only mumble. He can not eat or drink. He is on an IV. So I am taking a few days to come to see him. I planned on coming home for the traffic court date anyway when I found out about this unfortunate incident. My stepdad resides in the Bridgeport area so he is in a Bridgeport Hospital (I will not say which one for Hipaa reasons or give his name). He will have to go to a nursing home, probably for good. My stepdad was very active, he was a mailman for nearly 30 years. He was a Marine and served in WW2 in the Pacific. He was a great guy and I always thought of him as my dad. I always called him “papa” my kids did too. We are heartbroken over this and pray he can come out of it.

Also, I did want to run this great mini documentary if you will, on Pleasure Beach in Bridgeport. As most of you know who have been reading this blog for many years, I have featured the demise of Pleasure Beach many times. This is such a sad reminder to the people of Bridgeport, especially those who remember Bridgeport in her prime and Pleasure Beach at its best. For so many many years now, the people of Bridgeport have had to take it on the chin and see a once proud city deteriorate. NO THANKS TO HARTFORD. We lost Pleasure Beach, CONNECTICUT’S ONLY NATURAL SAND BEACHFRONT and 20 years ago, we nearly lost the University of Bridgeport. The city could not afford to keep this school going, so in a major blow, they had to sell their esteemed law school. Quinnipiac University is now its home. This school nearly closed and no matter what people think of the Unification Church, THOSE PEOPLE SAVED THIS UNIVERSITY FROM BECOMING YET ANOTHER PLEASURE BEACH. Now I understand the school has new owners. And I am happy to say that enrollment is up at UB. My daughter is enjoying her classes there. She is safe. She knows the reality of the area sadly. She sees that it looks run down. And even though some of the buildings on the UB campus need updating badly, the school is alive and it is trying to come back-and IT WILL. When I brought my “mom” down there a few week ago and she saw all the people on campus she felt good. I felt good. Sadly, most of the old restaurants and food stands we went to years ago are boarded up and abandoned, but I feel happy knowing there is still a breath of life being put into that areas lungs. They have a long way to go, but hopefully, whomever becomes the new Governor of Connecticut WILL STOP IGNORING THIS CITY. It really hurts to see how money is being spent and how some resent when Bridgeport gets anything from this state. WHY?? Bridgeport nurtured and supported so many people in the area for many many years and you resent the city getting some help? I also hope the City gets an administration that cares a bit more than what is going on now.

That is all for now.
