January 30th, 2008 by CindyDo you all remember when Westfield America sued the City of New Haven over the proposed Galleria Mall several years ago? Then New Haven sued Westfield and Milford?
It was ugly. Could that happen here? Does a developer have the right to develop his or her property? What about competition?
Let’s take a look at a timeline of events in that matter-which ended up with an Ikea Store–no mall. Now that we have a special development district could that happen here? Could the proposed Lifestyle Center end up being something completely different? What happens if stores start closing? What will fill the gap? Any old store? Adult stores? Let us examine this tonight.
