Scenes of Kansas

I am going to run what I consider the “Best of UTH” before my blog does down next Saturday, February 27th. I am saving all the posts on my blog so don’t think you are off the hook.

In the meantime, enjoy “Scenes of Kansas” by Bill Fales.

Click here for “Scenes of Kansas” slide show.

FYI: Some of his photos look like they are from the Grand Canyon. Well, they are NOT.

They are the Monument Rocks located in Gove County, Kansas which is on the Colorado line.

Click HERE for more info on the Monument Rocks/Chalk Pyramids

EDITORS NOTE: I HAVE RECEIVED MANY MANY COMMENTS REGARDING THE PHOTOS BY BILL, ESPECIALLY OF “MONUMENT ROCKS”

THESE ARE ALSO KNOWN AS THE “PYRAMIDS.”

IN FACT, IF YOU LOOK AT ONE OF THE PHOTOS OF MONUMENT ROCK  ONE OF THE FORMATIONS LOOKS LIKE THE SPHYNX.

THESE ROCKS WERE ORIGINALLY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN FLOOR.

IN FACT, WHEN YOU VISIT THIS AREA, AND GET UP CLOSE AND TOUCH THESE ROCKS YOU SEE THEY ARE MADE UP OF TINY SEASHELLS!!

FACTS: KANSAS IS APPROXIMATELY 83,000 SQUARE MILES IN AREA. CONNECTICUT IS A LITTLE OVER 5,000 SQUARE MILES.

CONNECTICUT IS 100 MILES LONG—KANSAS IS 400 MILES LONG.

TO PUT THAT INTO PERSPECTIVE, FROM CHESHIRE CT TO DOWNTOWN MONTREAL QUEBEC CANADA IS APPROXIMATELY 400 MILES!!

THIS IS HOW MASSIVE KANSAS IS.

If you click on the photos you will be able to see where and when Bill took these photos.
