Every Halloween I dress up and go out and “visit” people I know in town. There is just ONE CATCH: They usually don’t know it is me because I am wearing a mask and a full costume. I love Halloween. I love seeing the looks on peoples faces when the door opens. My costumes are semi professional because an old friend from high school who is now a professional theatrical makeup artist, really does a good job.
One year, I went out as a person with an ax going through the top of my head. My friend made it look like blood and brains were dripping down my face. I scared the CRAP out of people–it was great. I try not to scare the little kids so I wait until later to go out.
One of these days, I am going to have a hidden camera and record some of the peoples reactions-especially those who run the town whose homes I have been to over the years incognito.
Will I BE COMING TO YOUR HOUSE ON FRIDAY NIGHT??? You never know. My costume is really disgusting this year!!!

I guess it is time for me to be taking it on the chin again.
On Thursday, I got home around 3. p.m. went to my mailbox and took out the mail. As I was sorting through it, I saw a letter addressed to me but no return address. I usually get suspicious when I don’t see a return address. Well, I did open it (outside) and lo and behold–YES!! It was another fan letter.
This was handwritten and basically said that the person (he or she) was a business owner in town that reads the Herald and reads Tim Whites blog.
(I don’t have a scanner so I will just paraphrase what this (jerk) oops, person said). I am not going to drive down to Staples and spend money scanning this onto my blog.
I am assuming this persons reads my blog also because he/she kept talking about it. To keep a long story short, basically this person (who did not sign the letter) stated that they were upset that my ads were appearing in the Cheshire Herald and they were going to write the Herald and ask the Herald to remove my ads or they were going to remove theirs.
(Is this person kidding)?
The letter went on to say that my blog is “leftist” and that my ideas are worse than Elizabeth Esty’s, (whatever that means). The writer also said that Underground Town Hall does not represent what Cheshire stands for. (Oh, don’t even open that door, number one):
Number two, uh, like it doesn’t say anything about being from “Cheshire” in the masthead!!
The writer also stated that I am touting Socialism and Bill Ayers and I am disgusting and not an American.
My response-Hold Up Buddy!!
There are very few people in this country that are as patriotic as I. I have done civilian work for my country and still do from time to time. I don’t care who the President is-when I am called to do work for this country-I do it and I LEAVE MY PERSONAL FEELINGS AT THE DOOR!!
I want to respond to this person-I don’t have to, I don’t justify my life or my beliefs to anyone but God Almighty!!
Secondly, I am NOT A SOCIALIST. I don’t like Socialism in its pure form. I believe in giving every person an equal opportunity, but I do not believe in making unfair opportunities. The best example I can give is opportunities now being given to people to go to college who frankly have no business being there!! And it has nothing to do with race!!
My daughter goes to a small private school and I have been there several times to visit her. I have seen the Dean of this school going to some students and begging them to go to class.
In fact, I heard her tell a few of these students, “I am paying and other taxpayers are paying for you to get a free education-can you at least show up to class”
Many small private colleges are in financial trouble so they are taking in students that are not students at all in my opinion. These students come with a fat check from the state and the Government. That is how many of these small schools are surviving!! This is wrong.
College and University should not be slots to fill and money to rake in. They should be available to ALL WHO ARE QUALIFIED REGARDLESS OF RACE CREED OR ORIGIN. A person should be getting a higher education because THEY EARNED IT!! PERIOD!!
I try to post as many different ideas as possible on my blog. Just because I do doesn’t mean I agree with it!!
Thirdly: I AM A REPUBLICAN believe it or not. I am a registered Republican in Cheshire. I am a RINO though, I admit it:( Republican in NAME ONLY). I did this so I could go with my spouse to the Republican events in town and because I thought the Republicans would put my name on the ballot last year for Town Council. They didn’t. No one wants me–I am ALONE!!
Plus, believe it or not, I feel I get along with the Republicans (MOST OF THEM NOT ALL OF THEM), better than the Dems, unfortunately.
I do not always vote Democratic, even For President. My two favorite Presidents were Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan!! I loved Ronald Reagan.
I don’t want to offend anyone (oh who am I kidding, yes I do), but I liked Reagan because he stood his ground with that PATCO union, the air traffic controllers who went on strike when he first became President. Reagan told them to get back to work or you are fired. The ones who did not go back–WERE FIRED!! That was the end of that!!
I also do not believe in spend spend spend. In fact, since I have lived in Cheshire, a total of 23 years and I came here BEFORE I WAS MARRIED AND HAD CHILDREN, I have voted NO on EVERY referendum item. I will be voting NO again this year.
So, if this person wants to write the Herald and take their ad out because they object to seeing my ads for my blog, so be it. In fact, I have an ad in this weeks Herald. It is on the first page of the Sports section.
The Herald doesn’t object to my ad and my money so there!!
Now I did want to elaborate on my statement a few posts ago about the State of Connecticut not paying their fair share of usage because of the Prison, with the sewage treatment facility.
Al Adinolfi said in the Wallingford debate that this is preventing some businesses from moving to town.
This in my opinion is partly true. The other reason, I believe is ticket-itis from 500 Highland Avenue!!
You all know the latest business closing casualty has been PC Farm located in that little strip plaza next to the Herald. They moved to Newington on the Berlin Turnpike. Chalk up another one!!
During the Roman times, people paid, yes paid to have hot and cold running water in their homes. If they did not pay, they were SHUT OFF.
This is what needs to happen with the State of Connecticut. SHUT THEM OFF!! The Town Manager needs to call a meeting and tell the State that they need to pay up or put up (their own septic system). They have enough land at the Prison and it probably would be more cost and environmentally effective to do so.
They could put in the regular static septic system, that I have in my home in Cheshire, you know the tank, the distribution box and the leach fields. Or they could put in the Elgin In Drain system, that I have in New Hampshire, which has the septic tank, but instead of a leach field, because of ledge, I have a series of plastic tanks or baffles if you will.

Also, I am SICK AND TIRED OF THESE POLITICAL FLYERS–ENOUGH ALREADY. Everyone loves Seniors-everyone loves education-everyone loves putting criminals behind bars for good.
Yep!! It is election time. Remember WHO REALLY PUSHED FOR THE SENIOR TAX FREEZE-and, the State Paying the town for using its sewer system-Derf Kleist suggested that idea to Gil Leslie, former Town Manager.
And speaking of Al Adinolfi, if and when he decides to retire, I would like to see either Tom Ruocco or Steve Carroll run in his place for the Republicans.
Also, the Chris Murphy, Dave Cappiello race for Congress is heating up. Political spending is at an all time high. Chris is the Democrat Incumbent from Cheshire, but Republican contender Cappiello is giving him a run for his money.
