The incident WAS NOT handled correctly and this is coming straight from an ex CPD officer. First of all, why was the person allowed to walk in the lockup without the handcuffs if he was acting hostile BEFORE he got to the police station. I was told by Lt. Markella they did not know how he would behave so that was the reason for the throwdown. EXACTLY!! Then put handcuffs on this person BEFORE he was let out of the cage. Secondly, the two officers after the throwdown LEFT HIM ON THE FLOOR FOR A FEW MINUTES ALONE!! He could have been DEAD for God's sake or after he was sat upright-they left him unattended and HE GOT UP ON HIS OWN!!! HE COULD HAVE ATTACKED. Thirdly: I act in an anti-social manner most of the time and I HAVE NEVER BEEN THROWN ON THE FLOOR!! FOURTHLY: FIELD SOBRIETY TESTS FOR THE MOST PART ARE INACCURATE. I COULD NOT PASS ONE AND I DON'T DRINK OR DO DRUGS EVER!! I CAN'T STAND ON ONE LEG AND CAN'T COUNT BACKWARDS AND I CAN'T DO THAT DUMB FINGER TOUCHING THING I HAVE BAD BALANCE. PLUS THESE TESTS DO NOT PROVE A PERSON IS INTOXICATED OR UNDER THE INFLUENCE AND YOU KNOW THAT. BESIDES-THE BREATHYLER THE CPD GAVE WAS INCONCLUSIVE!! Many people I spoke with on Thursday and Friday told me they were frightened over the video some are having nightmares and felt depressed and angered that this resident was thrown to the ground. I will be calling the Governor’s Office on Monday to see if a counseling session can be set up. This video right or wrong has upset many people including myself so a counseling session may not be a bad idea." Are you serious? If these people need counselling, it's because they don't have a clue about what really happens in this world today. Even you know that. On any given day, you can turn on the TV and see worse types of criminal behavior recorded on police cruiser dash cameras. First of all, this incident was properly handled.
