DEC 1, 2011: I just found out from the Cheshire CT Public (I hate the word public and the word count-one slip and it turns into something else)-anyway, I just found out from the DPW that the branch cleanup from Winter Storm Alfred is continuing. The DPW is now on Section Two-going into Section Three-which is near the Correctional Center. The cleanup should be completed by Christmas.

I asked what section the DPW did first-of course they did Section One near North Brooksvale Road. (Isn’t that where the Town Manager lives?). Of COURSE THEY DID SECTION ONE FIRST! DUH!

A few readers asked about Thomas Dolby. From time to time I run his music videos as I am doing at the moment. Thomas Dolby is 56 years old now. Besides his music-he is famous for one other invention-ALL OF YOU USE THIS EVERY DAY.

In the 1990s, Dolby re-created himself as a digital-musical entrepreneur, founding Beatnik, which developed the polyphonic ringtone software used in more than half a billion cell phones.

 

A friend told me she noticed in the Cheshire CT Herald that the Town is looking for a Town Historian. This is a two-year volunteer position. She told me I should apply. Maybe I will. I know I am not here all the time, but I could probably do it. I am running my project “Cheshire: Then and Now” that I did a few years ago. I will think about it.

NOV. 30. 2011- Here is the text of the traffic  accident report on the local Cheshire CT resident which occurred on Nov, 19, 2011 at 10:45 a.m. as obtained from the Cheshire CT Police Dept. I am redacting the names.

THE OPERATOR OF TRAFFIC UNIT 1 (TU1) WAS PULLING OUT OF A PRIVATE COMMON DRIVEWAY AT 1074 S. MAIN ST. WHEN HE STRUCK A PEDESTRIAN IN THE ROADWAY. TU1 STATED HE WAS APPROACHING S. MAIN ST FROM THE PRIVATE DRIVEWAY. HE STATED HE LOOKED TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT, HE OBSERVED HEAVY TRAFFIC TRAVELING NORTH ON S. MAIN STREET. WHEN HE LOOKED TO THE RIGHT, HE STATED HE DID NOT SEE ANYONE WALKING ON THE SIDEWALK. HE STATED HIS VIEW OF THE SIDEWALK WAS PARTIALLY OBSTRUCTED BY A SIGN. AS HE STARTED TO PULL ONTO S. MAIN ST, HE STRUCK A PEDESTRIAN ATTEMPTING TO CROSS THE ENTRANCE TO THE PRIVATE DRIVEWAY FROM THE NORTH SIDE OF THE PRIVATE DRIVEWAY. HE CONTINUED TO STATE THAT THE PEDESTRIAN WALKED INTO HIS VEHICLE, NOT THAT HE STRUCK THE PEDESTRIAN.

A WITNESS WHO WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON S. MAIN ST, JUST SOUTH OF THE ENTRANCE TO THE PRIVATE DRIVEWAY AT 1074 S. MAIN ST., STATED HE OBSERVED TU1 APPROACHING THE ENTRANCE TO S. MAIN ST. THE WITNESS STATED HE OBSERVED TU1 LOOK TO THE LEFT, AT ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THEN PROCEED TO START TO PULL ONTO S. MAIN ST. THE WITNESS RELATED THAT HE COULD SEE THE PEDESTRIAN APPROACHING THE PRIVATE DRIVEWAY AND BEGIN TO CROSS THE DRIVEWAY, WHEN HE WAS STRUCK BY TU1. THE WITNESS STATED IT APPEARED AS THOUGH THE PEDESTRIAN WAS “PULLED” UNDER TU1.

THE PEDESTRIAN WAS LOCATED APPROX. 5 FT INTO THE DRIVEWAY, IN THE PATH OF THE SIDEWALK AS IT WOULD EXTEND INTO THE DRIVEWAY.

THE AFOREMENTIONED SIGN IS LOCATED JUST EAST OF THE SIDEWALK, APPROX. 4 FT OFF THE GROUND AND MEASURES APPROX 15 INCHES BY 6 FEET.

TU1 WAS MOVED BY THE OPERATOR PRIOR TO OFFICERS ARRIVAL ON SCENE.

I did ask the Police Dept. about the diagram. It shows the stick figure (pedestrian) lying where the crosswalk would be-head facing towards S. Main St. The photo I took shows “a square” that is the pedestrian,  who is 87  years old, but it shows the location out in the breakdown lane, not in the crosswalk at all.

The police explained they do not do an outline of the victim in the event of a death-that would be inappropriate. So, they outline the top half of the body with a square figure.

If the local resident obtains the police accident report-he should be able to measure (from the catch basin) on S. Main St.  “63.8 ft N and 2.1 ft E and this would give him the exact location of the pedestrian after he was hit.  The diagram as I stated previously, shows the stick figure “in the sidewalk area” (if the sidewalk were extended across the road-the pedestrian is shown in that area).

The police report does show under “Enforcement Action Taken”—Arrest. (which means he was given a ticket).

I have found all sorts of conflicting information-one site says the pedestrian has to yield to the driver in an unmarked crosswalk-another says motorists have to yield to the pedestrian whether the crosswalk is marked or not.

This website says that usually police don’t issue a report of an accident ON A PRIVATE DRIVEWAY OR ROADWAY. I sort of believe this because years ago, I took my kids to McDonald’s in Meriden CT and I got hit from behind by a motorist IN THE DRIVE THRU. How brain dead was this guy?

The motorist did give me his information-come to find out-the person I was working for at the time knew the owner of the vehicle-this man owned a popular banquet hall in Wallingford, CT, so he paid the damage. BUT, the Meriden CT police did NOT file a report-they said it was private property and they were not obligated to do so. This sounds like the cop who said he wasn’t OBLIGATED to stop at a stop sign in a PRIVATE lot. Hmm!

Typically, a law enforcement agency will not do an accident report on private property. Since you have no documentation, it will be hard for you to pursuit any action. Your sole course of action anyway would be civil or small claims court. Then it is your word against their word. It is a good idea to carry a disposable camera in your car to take photos. Most States require that both parties provide basic information such as name, address and telephone numbers when involved in an accident, whether on private or public property.

Also, I did speak with Mansfield, Mass, population 24,000, Electric Division. They have had their own Electric Division since 1902 so it was not just started. The man I spoke with gave me a name of a local activist who is interested in this issue. I will be e-mailing him later on in the week. Mansfield Mass is located near Foxboro.

I did receive a copy of the local resident’s (Cheshire CT) accident report from the local police records department. I did discuss the report with them. Apparently the pedestrian sustained injuries. All I know is-”Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian” in Connecticut is an infraction and THREE points are assessed on the driver license. I did notice however, the police report NEVER MENTIONED the driver received a ticket for “Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian.” There was also a witness to the accident.

In know the local resident received a ticket-I was there when it was given to him.

I am running this song by Harry Chapin: “Cats in the Cradle” because I know someone now that this is happening to. This parent never had time for her child-and now the  adult child is rejecting the parent.  I know someone else this is going to happen to. Putting money over a relationship with the child. Everything revolving around money-Sad.

I’ve long since retired, my son’s moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
I said, “I’d like to see you if you don’t mind.”

Here is a link to a town in Massachusetts—- Mansfield, that actually runs their own power company.

I noticed in the Cheshire CT Herald a reader was disappointed with the LACK of police presence at the intersections  after Winter Storm Alfred, where there was no power and drivers were left to fend for themselves. I agree. Oh, I’ll tell you where the police were-sitting at a desk at the Senior Center and High School playing receptionist. Well, Ms. Herald reader, they sure enough put in for the OVERTIME–$17,000 of it.

I RECEIVED A COMMENT FROM A LONG TIME READER LAST JANUARY. I WON’T DISCLOSE THE NAME-BUT IF THE  CHESHIRE CT POLICE DEPT THINKS JUST A FEW PEOPLE ARE “DISGRUNTLED” THAT IS WHY THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT THEM-THEY HAVE ANOTHER THING COMING.

OH THERE WERE NO INCIDENTS ON BLACK FRIDAY IN CHESHIRE CT. THERE ARE NO RETAIL STORES IN CHESHIRE CT TO GO TO IN THE FIRST PLACE-EXCEPT MARSHALLS. GIVE ME A BREAK.

I WENT TO WOODBURY COMMONS ON BLACK FRIDAY. IT WAS JAMMED. BUT IT WAS ORDERLY. NO PROBLEMS FROM ANYONE. THE ORANGE COUNTY NEW YORK POLICE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB WITH TRAFFIC CONTROL-EXCELLENT. PEOPLE AND CARS MOVED QUICKLY AND ORDERLY.


Here is the comment from the long-time reader.

I remember sometime ago my son, along with myself, was pulling into the CVS parking lot (when CVS was where Consignment Originals is). As everyone knows, there is no stop sign so people pulling in can turn left or right. The two stop signs that are there are for those driving through the parking lot or turning to go out. Well, as we pulled in and began our left hand turn to park the car, a police car came straight through the stop sign (to our right) fairly fast without stopping. He nearly hit us. When my son (who just returned from 4 years of military service where rules are rules) told the officer that he nearly hit us, the officer, in a sarcastic tone, said something to the effect, “There’s no legal requirement to stop at a stop sign in a parking lot. I don’t have to stop.”
Apparently they make their own rules. If you or I went through that same stop sign I’m sure we’d get a ticket. When are they going to be held accountable?

The number of people signing the petition to get rid of CL&P is up to over 20,000. I will be be contacting Mansfield, Mass. to find out how they were able to START THEIR OWN ELECTRIC COMPANY.

TO MAKE MATTERS EVEN WORSE, THE LOCAL RESIDENT SAID THE CHESHIRE PD OFFICER ASKED HIM IF HE “MOVED THE BODY.”

THE LOCAL RESIDENT RECEIVED A TICKET FOR “FAILURE TO YIELD TO A PEDESTRIAN.”

HANDING OUT TICKETS AND DON’T KNOW THE LAW-OUTRAGEOUS. THE STATUTE SAYS THE PEDESTRIAN CAN ALSO RECEIVE AN INFRACTION. THIS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF JAYWALKING. YOU JUST CAN’T CROSS THE STREETS ANYWHERE-YOU CAN BUT IT WILL BE YOUR FAULT IF NOT IN A DESIGNATED CROSSWALK.

THE POLICE KNOW THE LAW-THEY WANT TO BE VINDICTIVE.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? YES, WE CAN BECAUSE YOU SEE, THE “OUTCOME” WAS NOT TO THEIR LIKING, AND YOU KNOW THIS IS THE SAME PERSON SUING THEM OVER HIS MOTHER’S DEATH. TALK ABOUT VINDICTIVE. OH, I KNOW THIS PERSON IS SAD OVER THE PEDESTRIAN FALLING, BUT THE LOCAL RESIDENT’S CAR WAS NO WHERE NEAR THE PEDESTRIAN. THIS WAS AN UNMARKED CROSSWALK AND AS THE STATUTE STATES, THE PEDESTRIAN MUST YIELD. I THINK WHAT HAPPENED IS THAT THE PEDESTRIAN SAW THE CAR, PANICKED, MOVED OVER TO THE RIGHT, LOST HIS OR HER BALANCE AND FELL. (IT WAS AN ELDERLY PERSON).

AGAIN, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WHICH HAS NO RAPORE WITH ANY ONE IN THEIR COMMUNITY SHOWED UP ON SCENE AND BEGAN TO TRY TO EMBELLISH WHAT HAPPENED. REALLY REALLY SAD AND SCARY. THEY HAVE CAMERAS, WELL, SO DO I AND OTHERS.

OMG-THIS IS AN OUTRAGE-ASKING SOMEONE IF THEY MOVED THE BODY. PAR FOR THE COURSE. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE TOO BIG OF A POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH VERY LITTLE TO DO. EVERYTIME SOMETHING HAPPENS THEY RUN WITH THEIR MOUTHS OPEN WAITING TO GET YOU IN TROUBLE. I THOUGHT A POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT, SERVE AND HELP PEOPLE? I GUESS NOT ANYMORE. MO ‘MONEY!!

A history and explanation of Connecticut’s law regarding a pedestrian’s right of way in crosswalks.

SUMMARY

Since 1929, pedestrians have had the right of way in crosswalks. If a pedestrian is at the curb of or in a crosswalk all vehicles must slow down or stop to allow him to reach either the opposite side of the street or a “safety zone. “

If a pedestrian is not in a marked or unmarked crosswalk, then he must yield to all other traffic. The law places some restrictions on pedestrians using crosswalks. For example, they are required to yield the right of way to emergency vehicles. Pedestrians who violate crosswalk laws face a fine of between $ 35 and $ 50. Drivers who violate the crosswalk law face fines set by the Superior Court judges of between $ 35 and $ 90.

THE PEDESTRIAN WAS NOT IN A MARKED OR UNMARKED CROSSWALK  based on what I saw at the scene and the photos I took.  Well I guess another lawsuit is on the horizon. THIS IS THE SAME AS JAYWALKING. IF I WAS CROSSING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WHICH I ALWAYS DO-THAT IS THE B-PORT WAY-AND A CAR HITS ME- IT IS MY FAULT AND I AM SUBJECT TO AN INFRACTION. THE CURB IS THE GRAY AREA TO THE RIGHT IN THE PHOTO. I WAS STANDING WHERE THE CAR WOULD BE TO ENTER THE INTERSECTION.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

YOU CAN SEE ABOVE-THE MARKING THE POLICE PUT WHERE THE PEDESTRIAN WAS-SHOWS HE OR SHE WAS OUTSIDE THE UNMARKED CROSSWALK. IN FACT, THE WHITE LINE IS THE MIDDLE OF RT 10. EVEN IF THE PERSON FELL AND WAS IN THE UNMARKED CROSSWALK-HE OR SHE WOULD NOT BE IN THIS POSITION (WHERE THE SQUARE IS). THE PERSON PROBABLY FELL FORWARD OR BACKWARD FROM WHERE HE OR SHE WAS STANDING IN THE FIRST PLACE.

 

NOV. 18, 2011 – I was just informed that the Town of Cheshire CT has hired the law firm of Howd and Ludorf LLC in response to the local resident’s lawsuit-Suffredini v Cruess et al. The Town has until Nov. 28 to file their intentions.

I DID SPEAK WITH CL&P AGAIN ABOUT THIS ELECTRIC FIASCO. ALL YOU GET IS EXCUSES FROM THEM. “OH PEOPLE HAVE TO TRIM THEIR TREES NEAR THE ELECTRIC LINES” WHAT? HOW IS A RESIDENT SUPPOSED TO TRIM A TREE NEAR AN ELECTRIC WIRE WITHOUT GETTING ELECTROCUTED? CAN YOU TELL ME?

THIS IS THE JOB OF CL&P! I DO AGREE WITH CL&P THAT THERE SHOULD BE NO TREES WITHIN A 10 FOOT AREA WHICH IN MOST TOWNS IS THE RIGHT OF WAY. NOTHING CAN BE PLANTED IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD IN CHESHIRE CT NEAR THE 10 FOOT RIGHT OF WAY SO START ENFORCING THIS BY PASSING AN ORDINANCE IN EACH CITY AND TOWN. AS FOR THE TREES ALREADY GROWN AND NEAR THE POWER LINES-THEY EITHER NEED TO BE CUT BACK SEVERELY BY CL&P OR THEY NEED TO BE CUT DOWN. CL&P BLAMES DPUC (DEPT. OF PUBLIC UTILITY CONTROL) FOR PUTTING TOO MANY RESTRAINTS ON THEM AS FAR AS TREE TRIMMING IS CONCERNED. ANOTHER EXCUSE. DPUC REGULATES THE UTILITY IT DOESN’T TELL THEM NOT TO KEEP THEIR INFRASTRUCTURE CLEAN.

I DID SPEAK WITH A GOVERNING OFFICIAL IN A LOCAL CT TOWN-BOY IS HE UPSET AND I CAN’T BLAME HIM. “WHAT IS THIS SHIT”!!! GOD I NEVER HEARD THIS PERSON SWEAR-SO YOU KNOW THIS PERSON IS REALLY UPSET OVER THIS POWER OUTTAGE. I TOLD YOU THAT A CL&P REPRESENTATIVE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO SAID THAT CHESHIRE NEEDS A SUBSTATION IN THE NORTH END OF TOWN BUT THAT THE TOWN WON’T ALLOW IT. WELL, THIS IS NOT TRUE APPARENTLY.  A CERTAIN GOVERNING OFFICIAL SAID CHESHIRE IS NOT AWARE OF THIS.

SEE WHAT I MEAN-CL&P LIES. WELL WE WILL SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN WE SHOVE SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND SIGNATURES IN THEIR FACE. THEN, FINALLY WE WILL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THINGS.

CL&P DOES NOT GENERATE THEIR OWN POWER-THEY PURCHASE IT. THEY ALSO HAVE MADE STATEMENTS IN THE PAST THAT THEIR LINES AND POLES HAVE “DEPRECIATED”

WELL, IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEN GIVE THEM OVER TO US.  THE BOTTOM LINE-IT IS GETTING TOO COSTLY FOR CL&P TO PROVIDE POWER TO YOU AND I. THEY HAVE A CERTAIN CORPORATE “BOTTOM LINE” AND THIS IS GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO REACH. I AM TIRED OF HEARING IF WE WANT BETTER SERVICE-RATES WILL HAVE TO BE RAISED.

IS THIS WHY WALLINGFORD ELECTRIC DIVISION IS LOWERING THEIR RATES BY 3.2% CL&p-START BY NOT PAYING YOUR COO MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. CL&P HAS GROWN TOO BIG. THEY CAN’T HANDLE IT ANYMORE. THIS IS WHY WE NEED TO START OUT SMALL, AS IS DONE IN GILFORD NEW HAMPSHIRE WITH OUR GUNSTOCK VILLAGE WATER DISTRICT. WE HAVE 750 CUSTOMERS. THEY CAN HANDLE A PIPE BURST OR ANY OTHER EMERGENCY QUITE QUICKLY.

NOW I WAS LOOKING AT A VIDEO OF LARGO (FLA). CENTRAL PARK WHICH IS ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY CONDO. THIS PARK IS 70 ACRES AND HAS A BIKE PATH AND A NATURE PATH.  WHILE WATCHING THE VIDEO, ONE OF THE SCENES ACTUALLY SHOWS THE POWER LINES NEAR MY CONDO. I AM GOING TO RUN THE VIDEO-YOU NEED TO PAUSE IT AT A MINUTE AND 28 SECONDS-AND YOU CAN SEE THE POWER LINES. THEY ARE ON STEEL POLES-AND HAVE NOTHING NEAR THEM AT ALL-NO TREES-NOTHING. I HOPE CL&P PAYS ATTENTION AND NOTICES THIS. THEY NEED TO START NOW FIXING THE INFRASTRUTURE INSTEAD OF MAKING EXCUSES AND BLAMING EVERYONE ELSE FOR THEIR PROBLEMS.

“OH IT WOULD TAKE 10 YEARS TO PUT ALL OF CT’S LINES UNDERGROUND.” FINE-THEN START NOW-THEY SHOULD HAVE STARTED 30 YEARS AGO, WHEN DEVELOPMENTS SUCH AS MINE IN CHESHIRE CT- HAD THE LINES PUT UNDERGROUND. WE WOULD PROBABLY  BE IN A LOT BETTER SHAPE BY THIS TIME. SURE IT WOULD BE COSTLY, BUT HOW COSTLY IS IT GETTING TO KEEP CALLING ALL OF THESE OUT OF STATE POWER COMPANIES IN TIME AFTER TIME TO FIX AN OBSOLETE SYSTEM?

If you go to Florida a lot-you will notice that animals are not afraid of people there. That is probably because they see us all year round- as is the case with this bird- the videographer is able to walk right by-and the bird stays put.

HERE IS WHAT I MEAN ABOUT ANIMALS IN FLORIDA. THIS EGRET HAS BEEN HANGING AROUND THE CONDO AREA FOR YEARS. WHEN I CAME OUT TO SEE IT-IT WAS RIGHT BY MY DOOR. IT MOVED OVER A BIT BUT WAS NOT SCARED OF ME OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER-IS LOOKING FOR A FOOD HANDOUT. (BTW-MY PIMP CHRYSLER 300 IS IN THE BACKGROUND -THE BLACK CAR). MY NEIGHBOR HAS A RED MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE.

One of the most surprising facts about cholesterol is that there is no relationship between the blood cholesterol level and the degree of atherosclerosis in the vessels. If a high cholesterol really did promote atherosclerosis, then people with a high cholesterol should evidently be more atherosclerotic than people with a low. But it isn´t so.

A study called the Honolulu Heart Program was published in 2001. It looked at more than 8,000 individuals and made this statement: “Long-term persistence of low cholesterol concentration actually increases the risk of death. Thus, the earlier the patients start to have lower cholesterol concentrations, the greater the risk of death.”

Of course, cholesterol levels shouldn’t be ignored entirely. It’s important to have an accurate picture of your overall health, and very high cholesterol may be an indicator of other risk factors. But simply lowering your cholesterol may not prevent the onset of heart disease. By taking some of the heat off cholesterol, people can truly take charge of their health by minimizing other risk factors such as stress, obesity and inactivity.

NOV. 16, 2011: I did speak with a representative of Wallingford Electric Division. Basically, any city or town that wanted to “do away” with Connecticut Light & Power would have to buy out Northeast Utilities. It sounds daunting but several cities and towns in North Carolina have their own public energy consortium.

To me, this would have to be done a little at a time. We couldn’t have the entire CL&P service area in CT ditching CL&P because it would be WAY TOO EXPENSIVE and you know they would fight it tooth and nail. I believe we have to do it the way we did in New Hampshire in Gunstock Acres in Gilford. I live in Gunstock Acres which is part of Gilford BUT we have our OWN WATER DISTRICT.

We have several artesian wells we draw the water off of in our district. We are charged a flat rate (there are NO meters). It is $300 a year. There is very little lawn watering or car washing. The District asks everyone to conserve as much as possible so we do. We receive a water quality report EVERY YEAR from the district.  The Manager is Wade Crawshaw.

So that is a start-whether it is with a water district serving several hundred people or a small electric district, this is the way to begin. Taking SMALL steps. Other communities across the nation have done it-it CAN be done here.

When I built the home in New Hampshire, Public Service of New Hampshire which is a subsidiary of Northeast Utilities, would not bring the pole or lines because it is a rural area. WE PAID FOR THE POLE AND LINES (AND OUR LINES ARE UNDERGROUND-THEY GO UNDER THE DRIVEWAY AND UP 900 FEET TO THE HOUSE.

In the 12 years I have had the home, we lost power ONCE for something like an hour. In fact, during this October snowstorm where over 18 inches of snow fell WE DID NOT LOSE POWER AT ALL!

Why, because we are responsible, along with about 200 other residents of Gunstock Acres for keeping our pole and lines in good condition. We meet three times a year, with the other residents and make sure everything is in order-including tree trimming. We tried to put as much of the system underground as possible. We can choose to buy power from NU or HYDRO QUEBEC or whomever and NU knows this. The poles and lines and tree trimming are ongoing in our area. See the difference?

When people not corporations are in charge, you see a big difference. Look at our food supply. Years ago, when the family farmer was in charge of supplying food, and not big food corporations, you hardly ever heard of food poisoning and E-coli. Now it is rampant.

Also, I did speak to some power company employees from the south who came to CT to help restore power-they said NU’s power structure is POOR-IN BAD SHAPE-THE POLES ARE OLD-THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED. NEWS FEEDS IS REPORTING PEOPLE IN WINDSOR, AND A FEW OTHER TOWNS IN NORTHERN CT ARE WITHOUT POWER AGAIN. SEE WHAT I MEAN. NO DIESEL BACK UP UNITS, NOTHING. CL&P HAS GOT TO GO. AND APPARENTLY 10,000 PEOPLE IN CT ARE STILL WITHOUT POWER. NEGLIGENT!

The election is over in Cheshire CT. No real surprises. The Republicans gained control AGAIN because the Democrats just plain gave up. Too bad. But, according to media reports, there is a tie between Councilman Steve Carroll (R) and Dem challenger Peter Talbot. HOW CAN TWO CANDIDATES GET THE SAME AMOUNT OF VOTES? I REALLY HOPE CARROLL WINS.  THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BY THE STATE ELECTIONS COMMISSION OR SOMETHING WAS MISCOUNTED.

I UNDERSTAND THIS SITUATION HAPPENED IN THE UNITED KINGDOM RECENTLY. TWO CANDIDATES RECEIVED THE SAME AMOUNT OF VOTES. THE OUTCOME (AFTER ANOTHER RECOUNT CONFIRMED THE NUMBERS) WAS DECIDED BY DRAWING PLAYING CARDS.

The Republicans are going to continue to win in Cheshire CT because they bring out the senior citizen vote. They scare them-they tell them Cheshire must remain the same small minded town-no commercial growth-no outsiders and by outsiders they mean minorities from Hamden, Meriden and Wallingford. This is encouraged. This is why there is so much trouble on this Police Department. Please don’t insult my intelligence. You know damn well that incident took place at that police headquarters. Real good. So now we have two hot headed police officers carrying guns and enforcing the laws they break themselves.  I am hoping to find out who they were and you can damn well believe I will post their names here.

I guess Officer Wright plead not guilty to all three of his charges at his pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Isn’t it FUN going to court? Maybe now you know what it feels like TO BE ACCUSED OF SOMETHING YOU DID NOT DO OR HAVE IT BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION. ISN’T IT FUN HAVING YOUR NAME DRAGGED THROUGH THE MUD? As far as the Sewer Treatment Plant upgrade being defeated, don’t worry, the sneaky Town of Cheshire CT will find a way to do it anyway. They did with the pool that was defeated several times and the high school track. They don’t care what you think. They only have an election and Boards and Commissions because it is the law. They discourage public participation, they discourage other people with different ideas from running, that is why half of the ballot was empty. Well, when we finish with CL&P, we will go after the Cheshire CT Police Dept. (disbanding them) and turning this ridiculous Town Council/Town Manager form of government into a BOARD OF SELECTMAN AND AN ELECTED FIRST SELECTMAN. D WILL RUN FOR THE FIRST SELECTMAN POSITION.

November 8, 2o11: I did speak with a representative of the Cheshire CT Police Dept regarding this alleged fistfighting incident that allegedly took place at the station between two police officers. The representative assured me this incident never took place.

I asked what would have happened if the incident did take place-the representative assured me the parties involved would have been suspended.

BUT, WOULD THIS INCIDENT HAVE BEEN LET OUT TO THE PUBLIC? THAT IS THE QUESTION. SO, WHAT DO I BELIEVE. NO DISRESPECT BUT I DO BELIEVE IT HAPPENED. IT WILL BE DEALT WITH BUT QUIETLY THE WAY CHESHIRE CT LIKES EVERYTHING-QUIET. NO OTHER MEDIA OUTLET WILL TRY TO LOOK INTO THIS, NO ONE THAT RUNS THE TOWN WILL ASK. Anyway, Nov. 8 is election day. Same old same old. I expect the Cheshire CT Republicans to get back into power. I don’t think there will be a big turnout because there are no pressing issues that interest the general public-aside for the Water Treatment Plant.

I did find out that “Board of Selectmen” phone line is actually the Senior Center account in Cheshire CT. Hopefully, this will be changed so there are no more confusions. People are still gathering signatures in CT for the CL&P issue. Will keep you posted.

As far as data usage for the Cheshire CT Police Dept and other departments in town go, there should be an arrangement made with the cell phone providers for some sort of a package deal. Also, there should be a sign in sheet, so we know who is accessing the internet and what they are accessing. I know there is a block on certain websites (mine included) during town time-except the Police Department. But I can take of that. I know their IP address and can block them anytime I want.  I don’t expect any radical changes in boringtown over the next few years. SAD.

Apparently the Cheshire CT police officer who ALLEGEDLY kept a dog without informing the rightful owner or trying to find the rightful owner and allegedly interfered with authorities when questioned, is back in court on Nov. 8. I wonder if the two that supposedly punched each other out are getting arrested. I WILL FIND OUT.

Fishy is Dead

NOV 5. 2011-Well, apparently in Cheshire CT, the campaign is nearing the final stretch. My “campaign” to get rid of Constantly Losing Power is also in full swing. We want to start a “Unified Energy District.” CL&P is just too big and have gotten really sloppy. All they care about is bottom line profits just like the Republicans. I am going to try to get some photos of the electric grid in Florida here to show how they trim the trees back so they are not near the lines.

Getting an energy consortium will not be easy, but Wallingford Electric Division started from scratch. They had to learn-and they have been quite successful. I  know it can be done.

As far as the Waste Water treatment plant in Cheshire CT, THEY NEED TO SOLVE THE I/I (Inflow and Infiltration) first before they worry about expanding and getting rid of the high phosphorus levels. I know that is important, but first of all-either tell the jail to ante up more money or just plain cut them off. I know they give money to the town, but it is not enough.  And I did hear from a few of you about this police department. This is disturbing. I know people are human but from what I understand, there is a lot of infighting going on there. Look, there are plenty of people out of work-if these people can’t act professionally, then GET RID OF THEM. The hell with the union-let them sue in court.

This is what happens when there is NO CONTROL or NO OVERSIGHT. “OH WE DON’ T NEED ANY POLICE COMMISSION OR OVERSIGHT” OH REALLY-GET OFF YOUR HIGH HICK HORSE CHESHIRE CT AND FACE REALITY.

NOV. 4, 2011-I have just received unconfirmed reports that two Cheshire CT police officers were involved in a fight at the police station recently. REAL GOOD. AND WHAT MAKES IT WORSE IF THIS IS TRUE, IS THESE PEOPLE ARE CARRYING WEAPONS. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN CONTROL OF THEMSELVES, SO YOU CAN IMAGINE, IF THEY ARE BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF EACH OTHER, WHAT ARE THEY DOING OUT ON THE STREETS? I WANT TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE AND WILL TRY TO FIND OUT. ARE THEY GETTING CHARGED WITH DISORDERLY CONDUCT OR BREACH OF PEACE LIKE THEY CHARGE OTHER PEOPLE? NO. THEY SHOULD BE DISCIPLINED IN THE PUBLIC EYE. THAT WILL STOP THIS. YOU WONDER WHAT USED TO GO ON DOWN THERE BEFORE THE EYES AND EARS STARTED TELLING ME.

Still in Florida-it is COLD here today-only going up to 75. People are wearing JACKETS for God’s sake. I did notice in the Cheshire CT Herald ANOTHER drug raid took place. You are seeing this because as you know, supposedly two police officers left the force because they were told to put a lid on drug arrests BECAUSE IT MAKES THE TOWN LOOK BAD!! You are only seeing this info because the Republicans want  to get re-elected. After Nov. 8, Cheshire CT will go back to its old anal ways.

Some candidates say they have done so much for Cheshire CT. LIKE WHAT? We don’t have the bulk pickup anymore, the Town infrastructure looks like hell-the police department acts like the Gestapo. WHAT HAS CHANGED? I have been down here in the Tampa area and I hardly see any pullovers or anything. Believe me, if the cops are pulling people over-it is because they are CRIMINALS-not because they went 30 in  a 25 or their headlight was out. SOME PEOPLE NEVER LEARN. I wonder what will happen if the power goes out again AFTER THE ELECTION. Will Cheshire CT and these politicians react in the same way?

UPDATE: People are going around getting signatures to dissolve CL&P or at least break them up into smaller entities. When I return for the holidays I will be getting involved in this big time. We also still have the doctor-thon going on also.

It is so amazing what people in Florida think a cold front is. “Oh it was 80 now a cold front is moving in, it will only be 74!! Give me a break! I still like winter though. I love the cold and the snow. I also miss the variety of the terrain when I am here. It is flat flat flat, like Kansas, but at least there is a change of seasons in Kansas. Not in Florida. But, the beaches on the Gulf are mind boggling beautiful-no doubt. I have been coming to this part of Florida for 41 years. It is a part of me for sure.

I am still going to try to find out what this “Bd of Selectmen” phone line is. I know the Town Hall in Cheshire CT has been without power so I will wait. I will find out before the election though. I don’t expect any big changes. I don’t expect the Democrats to take over the Cheshire CT Town Council, I really don’t. I do believe though, from hearing people talk, that Patti Flynn-Harris may be the biggest vote getter and may even be Town Council Chairwoman. That would be good.

As far as the Cops in Cheshire CT not getting that COPS grant-they don’t need another cop giving out douche bag moronic doesn’t change anything motor vehicle tickets and until we see this brought down to an acceptable level, we will continue to try to stop any of these grants. I did hear again from the IRS about Elim Park, so I will be sending them additional information. These people need to change their attitudes and then maybe ours will change.  Also, no more word about the local resident’s lawsuit. This will take a while to get to court.

OK I haven’t posted for a while. I did fly out of CT on Tuesday and went into better weather (at least I have power). OMG, my daughter told me Fishy did not make it. He probably died of hypothermia. We tried to keep the tank warm but alas, to no avail. He died on Tuesday. I had that fish for 10 years. I really feel bad. Poor thing, it was trying to keep warm, it kept swimming to the top of the tank where the light was and we had poured in warmer water. YOU KILLED MY FISH BASTARD BUTLER.

I called that God Damn Constantly Losing Power (CL&P). I told them they are finished. There are people going around to Stop and Shops around CT in the CL&P service area and are getting signatures to break up CL&P and start our own energy Consortium (CHP) Constantly Having Power. I have been associated as many of you know with WED (Wallingford Electric Division) for many years when I took their minutes. I know ALL ABOUT HOW THEY OPERATE. I know about their 50 in 5 project with the Diesel Units that kick in when people lose power. What is his name-BUTLER-that overpaid CEO of CL&P. Well, Mr. Butler YOUR DAYS AS CEO OF CL&P ARE NUMBERED. YOUR COMPANY WILL BE ELIMINATED-COUNT ON IT. We have 5,000 signatures ALREADY from people fed up with their nonsense. THIS IS CRIMINAL what is going on with them-DO NOT TOLERATE IT-DO NOT PAY YOUR ELECTRIC BILL-THEY DON’T PAY THEIRS. CONSTANTLY LOSING POWER IS TOO BIG. THEY HAVE TO BE BROKEN UP. WALLINFORD ELECTRIC DIVISION ONLY HAS LESS THAN 50,000 CUSTOMERS AND THAT INCLUDES WALLINGFORD AND NORTHFORD. THEY ARE NOT A VOTING MEMBER OF THE CMEEC CONSORTIUM BUT THE PARTICIPATE IN THE WHOLESALE BUYING OF POWER. A TYPICAL 1500 kWh BILL IN WALLINGFORD (THEY HAVE SUMMER AND WINTER RATES) THE WINTER RATES ARE LOWER, WOULD RUN APPROXIMATELY $205 A MONTH. CONSTANTLY LOSING POWER, WHICH DOESN’T HAVE LOWER WINTER RATES, WOULD COST YOU ABOUT $230-WHEN THE POWER IS ON.

HOPEFULLY, WHEN WE GET SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLE TO SIGN THIS PETITION, AND BRING IT TO CT SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE DONOVAN AND GOV. MALLOY, THEY WILL PAY ATTENTION AND TAKE ACTION. AND ANY POLITICIAN THAT DOESN’T SUPPORT THIS, SHOULD BE VOTED OUT OF OFFICE.

OK I am FINALLY in a place (after traveling) where there is power-no snow-and 60 degrees and it ISN’T FLORIDA. DAMN. I had a hot meal, a shower, there was heat in the house. Oh Lord.

This CL&P or what I now call-CONSTANTLY LOSING POWER-has got to go and they will. When I return, I am going out every weekend to every Stop and Shop in the area of Connecticut that has CL&P and getting a petition to GET RID OF THEM. THEY ARE TERRIBLE. AND I WILL. PEOPLE WILL GLADLY SIGN. WE WILL HAVE A CONSORTIUM AS WALLINGFORD ELECTRIC DIVISION IS A PART OF-CMEEC. THE ARE IN IT WITH NORWALK, NEW LONDON, AND NORWICH. THEY PURCHASE POWER FROM DIFFERENT POWER SUPPLIERS AT A MUCH MUCH CHEAPER RATE THAN CL&P AND U.I. I WILL CALL OUR CONSORTIUM C.H.P (CONSTANTLY HAVING POWER).

On Sunday-Wallingford CT HAD POWER; NAUGATUCK HAD POWER; MERIDEN HAD POWER AND THE NORTHERN PART OF HAMDEN FROM DIXWELL AVE TO THE CHESHIRE LINE (THERE WERE SOME PARTS OF HAMDEN THAT DID NOT) HAD POWER.  WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM IN CHESHIRE. GOD IT WAS LIKE A WAR ZONE AND THEN TRYING TO GET GAS WAS SOMETHING OUT OF “MAD MAX”

I HAD MY GAME FACE ON. MY DAUGHTER LET HER GAS GAUGE GO ALMOST TO ZERO-SO ON SUNDAY AROUND 7 p.m. WE STARTED OUR TREK.  WE TRIED TO GO TO THE TA TRUCK STOP IN SOUTHINGTON CT. BIG MISTAKE. NEARLY A MILE BACKUP ON BOTH SIDES. THEN WE SAW THERE WAS POWER ON WEST JOHNSON AVENUE IN CHESHIRE CT AND THOUGHT (MISTAKENLY) THERE MIGHT BE POWER IN SOUTHINGTON/PLANTSVILLE-WRONG.

GAS GAUGE WAS BOUNCING ON “E”  SO I CALLED UP THE WALLINGFORD CT STOP AND SHOP. THEY SAID THEY HAD POWER AND THE GAS STATION WAS NOT REALLY BUSY. SO WE BOOKED IT OVER THERE. WHEN WE ENTERED WALLINGFORD FROM RT 68, I SAW THE ENTIRE TOWN LIT UP. I EVEN SAW THE ONE PART NEAR BROAD BROOK RESERVOIR THAT DID NOT HAVE POWER ON RT68-I SAW A WED TRUCK WORKING ON SUNDAY NIGHT. I DIDN’T SEE CONSTANTLY LOSING POWER WORKING AT ALL!!

THIS IS A DOWNRIGHT DISGRACE. CL&P DOES NOT DO ENOUGH TO KEEP TREES TRIMMED IN PLAIN ENGLISH. WHERE WERE (AGAIN) ALL THESE CREWS THEY SAID WERE “STANDING BY” THE NIGHT BEFORE THIS STORM? GOD ALMIGHTY I FELT LIKE I WAS IN DR. ZHIVAGO FOR GOD’S SAKE. PATHETIC. PEOPLE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO GO OUT AND BUY GENERATORS OR SIT IN THE DARK . THIS IS 2011 ALMOST 2012. AND YOU KNOW WE HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH CL&P FOR 26 YEARS-I HAVE THE RECORDS TO PROVE IT AND WENT TO THE CHESHIRE CT TOWN COUNCIL ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO AND WAS TOLD “THE PROBLEM WOULD BE SOLVED-DON’T WORRY.

LIKE CLOCK WORK-NO MATTER WHAT THE SEASON, WHETHER OR NOT THERE WAS A STORM -OUR POWER WOULD GO OUT AT LEAST 2 to 3 OR MORE TIMES A MONTH. WE WOULD BE AT HOME AND BANG-OUT IT WOULD GO. GET THE KIDS IN THE CAR-GO TO THE HOTEL FOR A SEVERAL HOURS OR A DAY. COME BACK ON. THEN REPEAT OVER AND OVER. THAT DID STOP WHEN THEY CLAIMED THEY PUT IN A NEW CONDUIT-REMEMBER OUR LINES ARE UNDERGROUND.

BUT WE WOULD CONSTANTLY GET TWO OR THREE SECONDS OF INTERRUPTION AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN. ON OFF ON OFF FLICKER. DISGUSTING. I CAN’T TELL YOU HOW MANY REFRIDGERATORS WE LOST AND EVEN A FURNACE MOTOR (WHICH CL& P DID REPLACE) YEARS AGO. NOT ACCEPTABLE CL&P.

GILFORD NEW HAMPSHIRE WHERE I HAVE ANOTHER HOME AND HAVE SHOWED YOU  ON GOOGLE MAP WHERE IT IS LOCATED-ACROSS FROM GUNSTOCK SKI RESORT IN THE BELKNAP MOUNTAINS, 1000 FEET UP-IN THE WOODS RECEIVED NEARLY 18 INCHES OF SNOW. GUESS WHAT? THEY HAVE POWER!! NEVER WENT OUT. IN FACT, SINCE THE 12 YEARS I HAVE OWNED THAT HOME (IN A RURAL AREA) THE POWER WENT OUT ONCE FOR A HALF HOUR!

CL&P TOLD ME AFTER THE LAST POWER INTERRUPTION A FEW MONTHS AGO, THAT OUR RELAY STATION WAS COMING FROM MERIDEN AND WE NEEDED A NEW ONE, PREFERABLY IN THE NORTH END OF TOWN, NEAR WHERE THAT MALL WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. THEY CLAIM THE TOWN OF CHESHIRE CT DOESN’T WANT IT. SO ARE STUCK WITH CONSTANT ON OFF FLICKERING POWER SURGES.

CL&P IS FINISHED. I WILL SEE TO IT GOD MARK MY WORDS. I REALLY DO WANT TO COMMEND THE TOWN OF CHESHIRE CT FOR THE GREAT JOB THEY DID WITH THE WARMING SHELTERS. WE WENT TO THE SENIOR CENTER ON SUNDAY NIGHT. WE GOT SOME FOOD, COFFEE. I WAS TOLD CHRIS MURPHY CAME IN WITH SOME FOOD AND I SAW MAIN STREET CAFFE COME IN WITH FOOD ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON. ALL OF THE TOWN OFFICIALS SHOWED UP AND WERE CONCERNED AND THE POLICE DID A GOOD JOB MANNING THE RECEPTION AREA AFTER HOURS SO PEOPLE FELT SAFE. CHESHIRE CT DID A GOOD GOOD JOB. THIS IS VERY STRESSFUL. I REALLY AM WORRIED ABOUT OUR FISH THAT IS 10 YEARS OLD. I AM AFRAID HE WILL DIE. WE DID TRY TO PUT SOME WARM WATER INTO THE TANK ON MONDAY. I PRAY THIS FISH WILL HAND IN THERE .

I DID RECEIVE A RECORDED MESSAGE FROM CONSTANTLY LOSING POWER AND THEY SAID IT COULD BE SEVERAL DAYS. WHAT? WHY ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE OUT OF POWER IN CT? CL&P AS GOD IS MY WITNESS YOU ARE GOING TO BE DISSOLVED. WE WILL GET TENS OF THOUSANDS OF SIGNATURES-NO PROBLEM. AND ANY POLITICIAN THAT IS NOT BEATING THESE PEOPLE OVER THE HEAD TO SOLVE THIS QUICKLY WILL ALSO BE OUT OF A JOB. COUNT ON IT.  I PRAY THIS SUFFERING WILL BE OVER SOON OR THERE WILL BE PROBLEMS. I STARTED THINKING-IF I DON’T GET GAS, SOMEBODY’S CAR IS GETTING SIPHONED AND I WASN’T KIDDING. MY EYES WERE WIDE OPEN AND NOSTRILS FLARING. THEN THE GUY GOT THE CREDIT CARD ACCEPTED AND STARTED PUMPING GAS IN HIS TRUCK, THEN TWO GENERATORS, SOMETHING LIKE 40 GAS CANS. I WAS READY TO KILL THIS GUY. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND ASKED THE PEOPLE IN BACK TO MOVE BACK SO I COULD GO INTO THE OTHER LINE, WHICH THEY DID. I WAS IN SUCH A ZONE ALL I COULD SEE WAS GETTING THIS GAS-MY HEART WAS PUMPING. I WAS READY. WE DID GET THE GAS-I FILLED IT UNTIL IS SPILLED ONTO MY CLOTHES-I WAS SO PUMPED UP.

I NOTICED ON MONDAY, THEY DID HAVE POWER IN SOUTHINGTON ON RT. 322. THERE WERE LINES FOR GAS AGAIN. THERE WERE LINES AT THE NOTCH IN CHESHIRE CT BECAUSE PEOPLE JUST WANTED SOMETHING HOT-HOT COFFEE. REALLY SAD. CL&P HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO PREPARE. THEY DROPPED THE BALL AGAIN.

FOR THE MOST PART-PEOPLE HAVE BEEN REALLY GOOD AND PATIENT. BUT HOW MUCH MORE CAN THEY TAKE?
